The January 2013 Collector’s Series Sale Impeccable Supurb Gem CSA Dollar 1397 1397 1881-CC GSA 1 Dollar. NGC MS67. A better-date Carson City issue from the storied Government Services Administration hoard that was released to the public during the Nixon administration. Most dates, including the 1881-CC, can be located with limited searching in lower mint state grades, but the scarcer dates often become difficult as premium Gems and, certainly as is the case of the present, truly rare and important at the Superb Gem level. As it is, the present dollar, in its original GSA holder, represents one of the very finest GSA dollars of any date remaining and is tied for the finest 1881-CC graded by NGC (NGC is the only company that certifies GSA holders intact). The surfaces maintain thick nearly mark-free frost on both sides with the addition of a thin crescent of rainbow color on the reverse that ads to its personality. The strike is perfect. An important item not only as a coin, but also as a piece of Americana. Housed in its origianl box of issue with certificate of authenticity. An NGC grading band has been placed around the original GSA holder to preserve the original nature of this item and detect any future tampering. (photo) Est. 7,000-9,000 1398 1881-CC GSA 1 Dollar. Uncirculated. Lightly toned on the reverse with considerable marks in the centers that limit the grade. Housed in the original box with certificate. Est. 300-400 1399 1881-CC GSA 1 Dollar. Uncirculated. Untoned with considerable abrasions on Liberty’s cheek. Housed in the original box with certificate. Est. 300-400 1400 1882-CC GSA 1 Dollar. Select Uncirculated. Untoned with light ticks on Liberty’s cheek and one larger contact mark within the lower reverse legends. Housed in the original box with certificate. Est. 100-150 1401 1882-CC GSA 1 Dollar. Uncirculated. Bright and lustrous with numerous marks on Liberty’s cheek that preclude the Select designation. Housed in the original box with certificate. Est. 100-150 1402 Octet of Uncirculated GSA 1882-CC Morgan Dollars. A delightful lot with most example remaining fully brilliant with one example that merits the Select moniker. All remain housed in their original box with one missing its certificate. [8] Est. 800-1,000 1403 Sextet of Uncirculated GSA 1883-CC Morgan Dollars. Mostly tone-free with several examples being lightly toned, including one with a light textile pattern from the original canvas bag. January 15-16, 2013 - New York, NY 1404 1884-CC GSA 1 Dollar. Select Uncirculated. Blazing luster adorns both sides with light grazes that define the grade. Housed in the original box with certificate. Est. 100-150 1405 1884-CC GSA 1 Dollar. Uncirculated. Mostly white with thick luster in the fields. Considerable contact marks in the fields are evident. Housed in the original box with certificate. Est. 100-150 1406 Octet of Uncirculated GSA 1884-CC Morgan Dollars. A fantastic investor lot with two examples carrying light multicolor tone and all but one example remaining in its original box of issue. [8] Est. 900-1,100 1411 Selection of Large Cents. A wide selection of dates is offered for this widely collected type with dates that include: 1802, 1807/6, 1828, 1838 (2), 1842 (2), 1848, 1849 (2), 1850 (2), 1852, 1853, 1857 (2). Most examples have at least some minor issues, with the 1857-dated example being fully XF. A lot that should be viewed. Sold as is, no returns. [16] Est. 200-400 1412 Large Grouping of Flying Eagle Cents. A wonderful assortment of this short-lived and heavily demanded type with a fairly even division between the 1857 and 1858 date. The nicest of the bunch is a 1857 in problem-free AU condition. Sold as is, no returns. [83] Est. 500-700 1413 Album of Flying Eagle and Indian Cents. Mostly circulated, but nearly complete with the following missing dates: 1856 FE, 1864 copper, 1864-L copper, 1866, 1871, 1908-S, 1909-S. The 1877 is a nice VG. A set that is worthy of close inspection as grades vary widely. Sold as is, no returns. Est. 800-1,200 1407 1407 1885-CC GSA 1 Dollar. Uncirculated. A lowmintage and popular Carson City issue with fully brilliant surfaces. Housed in the original box with certificate. (photo) Est. 400-500 LARGE LOTS — SINGLE TYPE 1408 Grouping of Draped Bust Half Cents. 1-8) 1804. Several easily identifiable die marriages are observed. Numerous examples show problems such as cleaning or corrosion. 9) 1808. Cleaned with some corrosion on both sides. [9] Est. 200-300 1409 Grouping of Classic Head Half Cents. The following dates are included: 1809, 1809/6, 1810, 1825 (3), 1826 (2), 1828 (7), 1829, 1832, 1833 (2), 1834 (2), 1835 (4). Many dates have minor afflictions, however, most maintain pleasing details. An impeccable opportunity to fill album holes in a burgeoning set. Sold as is, no returns. [25] Est. 300-500 1410 Grouping of Braided Hair Half Cents. An desirable assortment of later-date half cents with the following dates: 1849 (2), 1850, 1851 (2), 1853 (5), 1854, 1855 (3). While numerous examples were cleaned at one time, several were not, as is illustrated by an attractive 1853-dated example in AU condition with minor edge bruises. Sold as is, no returns. [14] Est. 200-400 1414 Assortment of Flying Eagle and Indian Cents. A pleasing starter set, largely arranged by date with the highlight being an 1858 “Large Letters” Flying Eagle cent with AU details that has been lightly cleaned. Other notables include an 1862 Indian Head cent with strong VF detail as well as several later-date examples in AU to Uncirculated condition. Sold as is, no returns. [139] Est. 150-250 1415 Collection of Indian Cents. A stunning grouping of cents with nearly all dates from the 1850s through the 1900s present. Grades vary widely, but many of the later dates (1880-1909) exist in Uncirculated condition. Worthy of close inspection as this lot with certainly yield incredible value. Sold as is, no returns. Est. 1,500-2,000 1416 Partial Roll of Uncirculated 1909 VDB Lincoln Cents. A nice selection with most examples displaying red-brown coloration. Several Gems should exist within. [42] Est. 200-300 1417 Album of 1909-1940-S Lincoln Cents. A pleasing, mostly problem-free circulated set that is only missing the 1909-S VDB and 1922 PLAIN. A great formation that won’t cost a fortune. Sold as is, no returns. Est. 500-700 1418 Pair of Lincoln Cent Albums. Both albums run from 1909 through 1940-S and are nearly complete aside from the 1909-S VDB, 1914-D, and 1922 PLAIN.
