The January 2013 Collector’s Series Sale
1214 1877-CC 25 Cents. XF. Mostly white with light purple
pastel blushes. One of the more available dates of
this denomination from the highly collectible Carson
City Mint. Est. 100-150
1210
1210 1864-S 25 Cents. Fine. A seldom-available San Francisco
Mint issue with even, honest wear on both sides
and no marks of significance. Mostly gray with some
darker tone around the edges. A choice example for
the grade and from a very low mintage of only 20,000
coins. (photo) Est. 600-800
1215 1888-S 25 Cents. PCGS AU58. A faint touch of
highpoint friction defines the grade with an enchanting
landscape of toning on both sides and apparent
underlying flash. A delightful collector coin.
Est. 200-400
1216 Quintet of Seated Quarters.
1) 1857. XF Details, Cleaned.
2) 1858. XF.
3) 1861. XF.
4) 1862. VF.
5) 1875-S. VF. [5] Est. 200-400
1217 1901-O 25 Cents. VF. A better date in a collectorfriendly
condition that is surprisingly scarce in midlevel
circulated grades. Est. 150-250
1218 1902 25 Cents. Choice AU. Essentially fully detailed
with glowing luster showing through intermittent
tone. Est. 150-250
1211
1211 1866 Motto 25 Cents. XF. A much better date from
a minute mintage of only 16,800 coins with glossy
gray-brown toning over moderately circulated, yet
nicely detailed surfaces. Worthy of an accomplished
Seated quarter set. (photo) Est. 800-1,000
1212 Pair of 1873 Arrows Seated Quarters.
1) VF. Nicely toned and choice for the grade.
2) VF Details, Cleaned. Toned with underlying hairlines.
[2] Est. 80-120
1219 1903 25 Cents. AU. Much luster remains with light
high-point friction. Est. 100-150
1220 1903-S 25 Cents. AU. Well struck with sharp detail
throughout and shimmering luster in the fields. Soft
pastel blushes on the obverse enhances the appearance
of originality. Est. 150-250
1221 1904-O 25 Cents. XF Nearly About Uncirculated
with significant detail up to the highpoints and easily
evident remaining luster. A scarcer New Orleans Mint
representative. Est. 150-250
1222 1909 25 Cents. PCGS MS62. Well struck with radiant
luster and variegated brownish patina on the obverse
and reverse. Housed in a first generation PCGS
holder. Est. 200-400
1213
1213 1877 25 Cents. PCGS MS65. Superb for the type
and grade level with impeccable, fresh luster in the
centers and golden color that circles the legends. Very
few marks are apparent, but one die clash is worthy of
note to the right of Liberty’s left arm. Housed in a
first generation PCGS holder. (photo)
Est. 1,200-1,400
1223
1223 1909-S 25 Cents. PCGS MS63. Apparently lustrous,
but masked in toning with an intriguing charcoal,
fuchsia, and navy-blue mixture on the obverse
and olive, gold, and royal-blue on the reverse. Housed
in a first generation PCGS holder. (photo)
Est. 400-600
