Counterfeit 8 Reales, 1790 Mo FM, 26.4gms, oneyear
type with Carlos III bust and legend “CARO-
LUS IIII”. The 18th century forger did a reasonable
approximation of the legal tender coin, the legends
and types, though, are crude, and vary noticeably, the
“9” in the date particularly stands out and most resembles
the Greek letter rho, or a lop-sided acorn.
Numerous cross-hatching test pin scratches on both sides
and minor core exposure on reverse. An interesting piece.
Crude about very fine. Est. 90-120
