Arbor Day!
Happy Arbor Day, a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant and care for trees. Since we didn’t get this note
out on the 5 th , I thought it would still be a good opportunity to plan to plant a tree. Arbor Day originated in Nebraska City, NE by J.
Sterling Morton. The first Arbor Day was held on April 10, 1872 and an estimated one million trees were planted that day. Many
countries now observe a similar holiday. Though usually observed in the spring, the date varies, depending on climate and suitable
planting season. National Arbor Day in the United States is the last Friday in April. We plant seeds every day with the kids we coach,
imagine what your results will be when you plant the whole tree?

survey asking you what you’d like to see available in the CSC store. Keep on the lookout for the survey and check the store often to

Competitive Teams Update:
40 boys to Regionals; 7 boys qualified from Regionals to the JO Nationals; 14 JO girls to Level 7 States (and 3 qualified to Regionals
for the first L7 regionals); all three XCEL teams with many of the Xcel athletes qualified to States and some to the Regional
Championships in Vegas. WHOOSH! Great job to all the gymnasts for an amazing year.
Next up: boy’s JO Nationals in Portland, girls Regionals in Las Vegas, and the year end team awards. The competitive seasons are
nearly over for 2012-13 and what a year it’s been. Congratulations to all the team coaches and all the coaches and staff who at one
time or another helped the athletes succeed that make up our teams.

o Congratulations to Tami Hanson who is now sharing the Retail Program Manager position with Kathy Schroeder. Tami
joined the CSC team last June at Cambrianna in Customer Service. She’s still serving our Cambrianna customers part time
and is at our corporate office part time where she is responsible for the Pro Shop leotards, apparel, dance supplies, and
training supplies. Tami is open to new ideas and suggestions to improve and increase our retail operations. She can be

Congratulations to Jeremy Waters who will be transferring from the Assistant Coach position at Race to become the Head
Coach of the JO girls teams at Cambrianna effective April 14. This transfer makes for an opening at Race.
Welcome back to Alyssa Telles-Nolan who is a new Assistant Team Coach at Race replacing Jeremy and working very
closely with Kyla and Su Lin. She worked for Malone last summer and is ready for this new full-time opportunity to be a top
team level coach and mentor.
We are still looking to hire one more team level coach at Race With changes occurring over the next several months, the
next person would take a leadership role working closely with all the staff in preparation for the new year. FYI: one of our
recent visitor interviews has accepted a position – Will Heyer II, he will be starting in mid-May.
Malone Rd (Site Manager Melissa) is looking to fill an upcoming opening for her Preschool Coordinator. Annie Cooprider
recently announced her engagement and pending move to Fresno. There is also a pending team coaching position that will
need to be filled at Malone with Jymmie Pierce’s possible move to Southern California (which we hope she will not do.)

I am also interviewing for a boys team level coach to join the Race Street staff by June. As a full-time position, this person
will be partnered with Cambrianna to fill the position mentioned below. If a part-time role, the focus will be on teams and
supportive roles to recreation development. Courtney Matsui is the hiring manager - same thing applies in this position as
the one above – WHAT you do for team coaching must meet the Team Directors expectations, and HOW you do what you

Summer Camp staff are being hired over the next few months – swim camps and gym camps are both in need of filling
positions. Be sure to let your friends know of the great opportunities around all CSC sites.
BY SEPTEMBER 1, 2013 Program Manager, PAUL DUMONT – ALONG WITH THE MANAGEMENT TEAM – WILL FILL EVERY
RECREATION COORDINATOR POSITION AT CSC. Whether with part-time leadership or full-time leadership will depend on
the budgets and general need of the site in collaboration with that sites leadership team. The goal is that no site will have
an ‘acting’ coordinator for longer than 60 days starting September 1. If you are currently teaching recreation classes and
would like to be interviewed for this important leadership position – contact a manager or Paul Dumont
