Daniel Walters and Jasper Hudson teamed up
to face an opposing Trinity doubles squad.
Tough match but a hard, 4-6 unlucky loss.
In the singles Daniel had a superb win 6-2
but a tough loss for jasper 4-6. Ricky played
outstanding the whole day but another
unlucky loss 5-7. Due to time constraints
though I was unable to finish my match 4-5.
For the Bs Sam Folden and Sasch Mayo faced
a strong Trinity doubles team losing 1-6.
Louis Shapiro and Thomas Goodman gave
their all but another tough loss going down
2-6.Sam Folden was a beast on the court on
Saturday with an outstanding 6-2 win.
Sasch Mayo played a strong game but his
opponent was just too strong winning 1-6.
Louis and Thomas each went down 3-6 but
both did their best.
Overall not Cranbrook’s best match yet but as
always Cranbrook always performs their best.
The 8Cs played Trinity on Saturday. In the
doubles Charlie Macdonald and Emmanuel
had a 1-6 loss and Charlie Pizzy and David
Loewy had a close 4-6 loss. In the singles
David, Charlie and Emmanuel unfortunately
had 0-6, 2-6 and 0-6 losses but Charlie
Macdonald won his match with an impressive
6-0 victory.
The 4th round of winter tennis at Trinity
Grammar School was played in sunny autumn
conditions despite the torrential rain all
evening before. The 7As were very pleased
with their 6-love in sets and 36-6 in games
domination of Trinity, traditionally a very
strong CAS tennis school.
In the first match first doubles pair Jay Gerrish
and Graham Heller quickly adapted to the
synthetic courts, worked well as a team and
completely devastated Trinity’s A1 and A2 for
an amazing 6-love result. Maxwell Liu (A3)
and James Drielsma (A4) communicated
well, amused each other between points, but
concentrated particularly on big-points to outplay
Trinity’s second pair for a great 6-2 win.
Jay kicked off the singles and both outplayed
and overpowered this opponent for a strong
6-1 win. In the second singles, Graham
constantly manoeuvred the ball making his
opponent run before crushing him for a cool
6-love win. Next up, Maxwell pressured his
opponent constantly by taking the ball early to
break his opponent’s serves for a tidy 6-2 win.
In the final A singles, James dominated Trinity
with his top spin forehand and pulled off
numerous clean winners for a great 6-1 finish.
Bs also had a great 5 sets to 1 win, but much
closer in terms of games 36-25. Kicking off
the day, first pair Emeil Aroney (B1) and
Max Kanuk (B2) won a closely fought match
6-4. Emeil and Max’s strong communication
and mental attitude gave them the edge they
needed to win. Second pair Lucas Berger
(B3) and Jackson Rogers (B4) also had a
great close-match 6-4 doubles win. Lucas and
Jackson’s quick adaption to Trinity’s home
synthetic courts gave them the edge for this
hard fought handy win. Emeil and Trinity
B1 in the singles pushed each other neck
and neck to 5-all, before Emeil successfully
shifted up a gear and closed-out his opponent
7-5. Max also successfully won in a long and
closely fought 6-4 match (with everyone
watching) by putting pressure on his opponent
with his unrelenting determination. Trinity’s
B3 had no answer to Lucas’ scorching return
of serves and was outclassed in a decisive
6-1 Cranbrook win, giving Lucas the Bs best
result of the day! Jackson capped off the final
B singles of the day. Unfortunately, Jackson
narrowly lost 5-7; unlucky, as it could have
gone either way.
it his best. Dylan was up next and lost 2-6, he
Games f
put in his best effort and had a great attitude.
