Even though Cranbrook lost, there was some
great offensive and defensive work by Andrew
Gallagher, Matt Reynolds and Josh Kemeny.
Hopefully the boys can come back next week
and beat Knox.
Cranbrook 32 defeated Trinity 24 (Harrison
Stewart 3 tries, Nick Aboud, Harrison
Twomey, Harry Marsh tries)
The Bs played an outstanding game of rugby
on the weekend. After several consecutive
losses early in the competition the Bs were
keen for a win. We worked well together and
played a much more consistent game of rugby.
Harrison Stewart gave a standout performance
and, in only his second game for Cranbrook,
scored three amazing tries. This significantly
helped the team on our way to victory. Not
to be forgotten were Nick Aboud, Harrison
Twomey and Harry Marsh who all scored
great tries in their own right. Trinity was a
tough opponent and our hats go off to them
for their strong game.
Cranbrook 26 defeated Trinity 5 (Louis
Malouf, Alessandro Compton, Caine Smith
tries, Tom Tilley two conversions, Oskar
Poole one conversion)
After a tight loss against Waverley, the Cs were
hoping to bounce back in a highly anticipated
match against Trinity. The first half was great
both offensively and defensively. However, the
boys played even better in the second, showing
tremendous speed bursting through tackles
and able to maintain possession throughout
U13A V Trinity
majority of the half. Caine Smith and
Alessandro Compton made several line breaks
and both contributed to the scoreboard. It was
a great first win and hopefully there will be
more games like this to come.
Cranbrook 56 defeated St Joseph’s 7
Cranbrook (Ben Siva two tries, Hamish
Woods, Luca Aroney, Tom Nation, Chris
Randall, Will Haynes tries, Zach Muldoon two
conversions, Joey Cussen one conversion)
Having not won a game this season, the
Ds were keen to notch up a win against St
Joseph’s. The boys played a dominant game
and were very strong offensively. Many players
showed how much they have improved during
the season, including Chris Daniels and
Hamish Woods, who both ran very hard and
straight toward the opposition line. The boys’
defence was also much better this week, only
allowing St Joseph’s to score one try.
Win 36 – 10
The boys put on a great display of rugby
against Trinity. Probably the best indicator of
how much of a team effort it was, is the way
that scoring was shared between the forwards
and backs. Charlie Crammond again led
from the front with a try and some massive
hits that lifted the boys. Chriso Dixson had
a great game distributing the ball well, and
tackling as though he was possessed. Finnbar
Stenmark converted three tries continuing his
impressive run as a goal kicking second rower
playing out of position. Finn Weir managed to
be cool under pressure, whilst being suitably
aggressive in his play and was rewarded with a
try. Oscar Lim-Strachan, Rob Nettle, Andrew
and Jake Broekhuizen also crossed the line to
complete a comprehensive victory as Trinity
only managed two unconverted tries.
14B
Lost 19-26
In the first half we were not dominating the
contact in tackles and as a result spent a lot
of time defending and tackling. Richard
Goodman, Sam Worthington and Peter Milios
were strong in the rucks but we struggled to
keep Trinity from counter-rucking. We were
more switched on to hard running in the
second half. James Walker, James Gordon,
Aaron Meyer and Alex Antonelli all made
strong line breaks with Alex getting two
tries and Walker one. Alby, Aaron and James
Schiller defended well on the flanks. Alex
also kicked well for two conversions making
him a one man points machine. We need to
put these strong performances together and
support these players in order to maintain
possession and build pressure. The team
should be encouraged by a strong second half
performance and build on that in training this
week.
14C
Win 40 – 20
In a try scoring bonanza the Cs won
convincingly with a score of 40 – 20,
displaying how vital possession is in running
rugby. It was a great turnaround from last
week against Waverley and hopefully the boys
will maintain this good form against Knox on
Saturday.
Star player Chriso Dixson – all-round game
and tremendous tackling
13A
Lost 31-5
In a repeat of last week, Cranbrook opened the
scoring with Harvey Tilley crossing over the
line early on. Trinity followed this swiftly with
an equaliser and the two teams looked to be
evenly matched until play was halted. After a
lengthy injury delay, the boys returned to the
pitch to play the second half. The Cranbrook
boys tried hard but Trinity dominated, scoring
4 unanswered tries to win the game.
13B
Lost 20- 10
The boys played a tough and gruelling game
against Trinity on Saturday. The boys came
with great intent and that showed in the first
try scored by Will Crowley after quick hands
to get the ball out of the flying full back.
