Claire Davies is a research assistant <strong>in</strong> the School of Environmental Science at <strong>Murdoch</strong> University, Perth,<br />
Western Australia. Claire has a MEng. <strong>in</strong> Chemical Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g from Manchester University, UK, and has<br />
recently completed a MSc <strong>in</strong> Environmental Science with <strong>Murdoch</strong> University. Claire has also worked <strong>in</strong> the<br />
adventure tourism <strong>in</strong>dustry for 5 years and is a keen mounta<strong>in</strong> <strong>bike</strong>r. Her current research activities are based<br />
around mar<strong>in</strong>e wildlife tourism.<br />

David Newsome<br />
David Newsome is an Associate Professor <strong>in</strong> the School of Environmental Science at <strong>Murdoch</strong> University,<br />
Perth, Western Australia. David holds degrees <strong>in</strong> botany, soil science and geomorphology. His pr<strong>in</strong>cipal<br />
research <strong>in</strong>terests are geotourism, human-wildlife <strong>in</strong>teractions and the biophysical impacts of recreation and<br />
tourism. David’s research and teach<strong>in</strong>g, and the activities of his research group, focus on the susta<strong>in</strong>able use of<br />
landscapes and the assessment and management of recreational <strong>activity</strong> <strong>in</strong> protected <strong>areas</strong>.<br />
