In <strong>the</strong> audience hall <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Episcopal Palace, Evangelista de <strong>Foppa</strong> filius et procurator<br />

Magistri Vincentii de <strong>Foppa</strong> pictoris, states that <strong>the</strong> bro<strong>the</strong>rs Leggi should<br />

have in <strong>the</strong>ir keeping lib. 50 s. 10 nomine, dicti Evangeliste procuratoris dicto<br />

nomine, quos habere debebat a certis personis, diversis de causis, videlicet a domino<br />

Petro Symone de Beluscho libras xxii imperiales ; a domino Andrea de Mutina libras<br />

octo et soldos xvi imperiales ; a magistro Antonio de Sancto Albano occasione<br />

certi dalmaschini libras [b/aak] et a Sigebaldo de Ferrariis libras iv imperiales . . .<br />

Modo dictus Evangelista, dicto nomine, attento quod dicti fratres de Lege ipsas pecunias<br />

minime receperunt et nee habuerunt, he absolves <strong>the</strong>m from all obligations towards<br />

himself, attento maxime quod dictus Evangelista a dicto magistro Antonio pro causa<br />

dicti dalmaschini recepit integram solucionem et a suprascripto Sigebaldo partem<br />

debiti et a dicto domino Andrea integram solucionem et solum restat habere libras xxii<br />

a dicto domino Petro Symone et pro ipsis habendis convenit dictum dominum Petrum<br />

Symonem coram domino Vicario magnifici domini Potestatis Papie.<br />

Evangelista <strong>Foppa</strong>, acting on behalf <strong>of</strong> <strong>his</strong> fa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>Vincenzo</strong>, states that <strong>the</strong><br />

bro<strong>the</strong>rs Leggi should have in <strong>the</strong>ir keeping certain moneys owing from different people<br />

to <strong>Vincenzo</strong>, namely, from Ser Pietro Simone da Belusco, 22 lire imp. ;<br />

from Ser<br />

Andrea da Modena, 8 lire 10 soldi imp. ; from Maestro Antonio da S. Albano, damask<br />

to <strong>the</strong> value <strong>of</strong> [b/ank] lire ; and from Sigebaldo Ferrari, 4 lire imp. . . . Evangelista,<br />

in <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> <strong>his</strong> fa<strong>the</strong>r, absolves <strong>the</strong>m from all fur<strong>the</strong>r obligation. "And<br />

whereas Evangelista has received full satisfaction from Master Antonio in <strong>the</strong> matter <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> damask, and also from Andrea, and as Sigebaldo has paid <strong>his</strong> debt in part ; <strong>the</strong>re<br />

remains only <strong>the</strong> 22 lire from Pietro Simone." Evangelista <strong>the</strong>refore summoned him<br />

before <strong>the</strong> Deputy Podesta <strong>of</strong> Pavia.<br />

10. Evangelista <strong>Foppa</strong> appoints a representative to collect <strong>the</strong> money due to <strong>his</strong><br />

fa<strong>the</strong>r from Pietro Simone da Belusco.<br />

March 2,<br />

1502, Pavia.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> Episcopal Palace, Pietro Simone Guaschi da Belusco, son <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Andrea,<br />

declares to Giov. Maria Leggi, notary <strong>of</strong> Pavia, acting on behalf <strong>of</strong> Magistri Vincentii<br />

de <strong>Foppa</strong>, pictoris, that he is in <strong>his</strong> debt to <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> I.19, s.2, pro resto librarum<br />

xxii per ipsum habitarum et receptarum, nomine ipsius magistri Vincentii, a domina<br />

Susana de Crivellis uxore domini Johannis Andree de Mutina . . . pro parte pensionis<br />

domus ipsius magistri Vincentii locate per dictum Petrum Simonem suprascriptis iugalibus.^<br />

He promises to discharge <strong>his</strong> debt to <strong>the</strong> full within two months. In <strong>the</strong><br />

^ Being <strong>the</strong> remainder <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sum <strong>of</strong> 22 lire which he (Pietro Simone) collected in <strong>the</strong> name<br />

<strong>of</strong> Master <strong>Vincenzo</strong> from Susanna Crivelli, wife <strong>of</strong> Giov. Andrea <strong>of</strong> Modena, as part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

house rent due from her to <strong>Foppa</strong>.
