The Minutes 59. Nominating Committee Report / Accepted. MOVED BY ROBERT A. IVANCSO, SECONDED BY FRANK SCHAUER AND THE 36TH GENERAL CON- VENTION ACCEPTED THE REPORT OF THE NOMI- NATING COMMITTEE. 60. Chairman Varga / Alternate Director Nominations from the Floor. Convention Chairman Varga asked for nominations from the floor for Alternate Directors. 61. Nominations / Alternate Director. Michael F. Tomcsak nominated Ernest J. Mozer, Jr., for Alternate Director. Barbara A. House nominated Robert M. Jones, Jr. 62. Further Nominations / Alternate Director. Chairman Varga asked three (3) times if there were any further nominations for Alternate Director. There being none, nominations were closed for Alternate Directors. 63. Nominations for Alternate Director/ Closed. MOVED BY ROBERT KOVACH, SECONDED BY ALEXANDER SERA AND THE 36TH GENERAL CONVENTION CLOSED NOMINATIONS FOR ALTERNATE DIRECTOR. 64. E. E. (AL) Vargo / Conducts Memorial Service. Vice Chairman E. E. (Al) Vargo conducted the Memorial Service. The Memorial Service was to commemorate the passing of former Officers, Board of Directors, Auditing Committee members, retired Home Office Employees, former Branch Officers and Coordinators. Music was offered by bagpiper Lt. Michael A. Scott, Pittsburgh Police Department, Emerald Society Pipes and Drums. Rev. Dr. Joseph G. Bodnar performed the memorial service. Evelyn B. Bodnar sang for the memorial service accompanied on the piano by Arlene Miller. 65. Chairman Varga / Voting for Alternate Directors. Chairman Varga stated the ballot is prepared for voting for Alternate Directors and gave specific instructions for the manner in which the election of Alternate Directors will be elected. 66. Delegates Voting / Commenced. National V.P./ Secretary Richard W. Toth began calling the delegates by names and table numbers to cast their ballot. 67. Meeting / Recessed for Lunch. Chairman Varga recessed the convention for lunch break. 68. Chairman Varga / Convention Reconvened. Chairman Varga reconvened the 36th General Convention following the lunch break. 69. National President Charles / Chairman of Election /Tellers Committee. President George S. Charles, Jr., Chairman of the Election / Tellers Committee announced the results of the election for the fourteen (14) Alternate Directors. Frank C. Hrabar, Jr. - 68 Richard L. Chairman Varga relinquishes the gavel to Vice Chairman E. E. (Al) Vargo. At this time, the WPA Home Office employees are invited into the Convention gallery. 74. Chairman Varga / Remarks / Future Programs. Vice Chairman E. E. (Al) Vargo introduced Stephen J. Varga for remarks on the future of the William Penn Association. Mr. Varga submitted his report on the future programs to move the Association forward in the ensuing four (4) years from 2007-2011. 75. Report of Chairman Varga / Acknowledged. MOVED BY BARBARA A. HOUSE, SECONDED BY ROGER G. NAGY AND THE 36TH GENERAL CON- VENTION ACKNOWLEDGE AND SUPPORT THE WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION’S 2007-2011 BUSI- NESS STRATEGY. 76. Chairman Varga / Gavel Returned. Vice Chairman E. E. (Al) Vargo returned the gavel to Convention Chairman Stephen J. Varga. 77. Employees in the National President’s Department / Introduced. President George S. Charles, Jr., introduced all the employees of the William Penn Association. Toth introduced all of the employees in the National V.P./Secretary’s Department and requested them to come forward before all the delegates assembled. 79. Employees in the National V.P./Treasurer’s Department / Introduced. National V.P./Treasurer Diane M. Torma introduced all of the employees in the National V.P./Treasurer’s Department and requested them to come forward before all the delegates assembled. 80. Employees Receive a Standing Ovation. The Convention delegates acknowledged all the employees before them with a standing ovation with sincere thanks and appreciation. 81. President Charles reviews Convention Book. President George S. Charles, Jr., reviewed the convention booklet that each delegate received outlining the events of the convention such as Agenda, Actuarial Report, Report of the National Officers and Board of Directors and proposed By-Laws. 82. Robert A. Ivancso / Auditing Committee Report / Submitted. Robert A. Ivancso submitted the Report of the Auditing Committee. 83. Auditing Committee Report / Acknowledged. MOVED BY RONALD S. BALLA, SECONDED BY BARBARA A. HOUSE AND THE 36TH GENERAL CONVENTION ACKNOWLEDGED THE REPORT OF THE AUDITING COMMITTEE. 84. Convention Delegates Ratify Actions of Officers and Directors from 2003 – 2007 / Resolution Adopted. Director Nickolas M. Kotik presented the following Resolution. BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE DELEGATES OF THE 36TH GENERAL CONVENTION APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE REPORT OF THE NATIONAL OFFICERS AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND RATIFY THE ACTIONS OF THE NATIONAL OFFICERS AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE YEARS 2003 THROUGH 2007. MOVED BY MARGARET H. BOSO, SECONDED BY JAMES W. ROBERTSON AND THE 36TH GENERAL CONVENTION ADOPTED THE RESOLUTION. 85. Convention Work Resolution / Adopted. MOVED BY ROGER G. NAGY, SECONDED BY BARBARA A. HOUSE AND THE 36TH GENERAL CONVENTION ADOPTED THE FOLLOWING RESO- LUTION: THE 36TH GENERAL CONVENTION IN REGULAR SESSION RESOLVES THAT THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CONVENTION, TWO VICE CHAIRMEN OF THE CONVENTION, SECRETARY OF THE CONVENTION, NATIONAL PRESIDENT, NATIONAL VICE PRESI- DENT / SECRETARY AND NATIONAL VICE PRESI- DENT / TREASURER EACH RECEIVE $2,200.00 FOR THEIR WORK AT THE CONVENTION. 86. Investments and Properties Resolution / Adopted. MOVED BY LISA S. TOTH-MASKARINEC, SEC- ONDED BY MARGARET H. BOSO AND THE 36TH GENERAL CONVENTION ADOPTED THE FOLLOW- ING RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION IS CHARGED UN- DER THE ASSOCIATION’S BY-LAWS WITH THE ULTIMATE DUTY TO MANAGE THE ASSOCIATION’S INVESTMENTS AND PROPERTY, AND WHEREAS, THE ASSOCIATION’S ASSETS MUST BE AVAILABLE TO SERVE MANY PURPOSES, IN- CLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION: • THE PAYMENT OF BENEFITS TO THE HOLD- ERS OF BENEFIT CERTIFICATES; • SUPPORT AND SPONSORSHIP OF ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE HUNGARIAN CULTURE; • FRATERNAL ACTIVITIES TO ENHANCE THE INTEREST OF CURRENT MEMBERS IN THE ASSO- CIATION AND TO ATTRACT NEW MEMBERS; AND • CHARITABLE AND BENEVOLENT ACTIVITIES; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE 36TH GENERAL CONVENTION OF THE WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION THAT THE ASSOCIATION’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS IS DIRECTED TO CONTINUOUSLY REVIEW THE ASSOCIATION’S INVESTMENTS AND PROPERTIES, AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE ASSOCIATION’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS ARE AUTHORIZED TO TAKE WHATEVER ACTIONS MAY BE NECESSARY TO DISPOSE OF NON-PRODUCTIVE ASSETS, AS THE ASSOCIATION’S BEST INTERESTS MAY REQUIRE. 87.
