MINUTES OF THE 36 TH GENERAL CONVENTION<br />
OF THE WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION<br />
HELD AT THE HILTON PITTSBURGH & TOWERS<br />
IN PITTSBURGH, PA<br />
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2007<br />
1. Call to Order. Chairman of the <strong>Convention</strong> Stephen<br />
J. Varga welcomed the delegates to the <strong>36th</strong> <strong>General</strong><br />
<strong>Convention</strong> and called the <strong>Convention</strong> to order at 9:00<br />
A.M. Chairman Varga introduced the members seated at<br />
the head table. He bid “Isten Hozott” to the delegates and<br />
guests. He congratulated the delegates upon their election<br />
to participate in this <strong>Convention</strong> and wished everyone a<br />
fruitful <strong>Convention</strong>.<br />
This <strong>Convention</strong> is called into session in accordance<br />
with the Fraternal Insurance Laws of the various jurisdictions<br />
wherein the Association is licensed to operate as a<br />
Fraternal Benefit Society. The supreme governing and<br />
legislative body of a Fraternal Association is the <strong>General</strong><br />
<strong>Convention</strong>. The state law mandates that a <strong>Convention</strong> of<br />
delegates representing the entire membership convene<br />
once every four (4) years to establish rules, laws, regulations<br />
and guidelines for the ensuing four (4) years.<br />
All members of the <strong>Convention</strong> are expected to be<br />
courteous in their speech and conduct. Each speaker will<br />
be expected to present his or her views clearly and calmly.<br />
Only that delegate, who has been recognized by the<br />
presiding Chairman, may speak.<br />
Only those matters may be discussed at the <strong>Convention</strong><br />
which has been included in the Agenda and in accordance<br />
with the by-laws.<br />
Chairman Varga called upon the Chairman of the<br />
Sergeant-at-Arms to introduce himself and his committee<br />
members:<br />

2. Invocation. Reverend Dr. Daniel Borsay from the<br />
Free Hungarian Reformed Church, McKeesport, PA offered<br />
the invocation.<br />
3. Pledge of Allegiance. Vice Chairman Elmer W. Toth<br />
led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of<br />
the United States of America.<br />
4. American and Hungarian National Anthems. The<br />
assembly sang the American and Hungarian National<br />
Anthems led by Evelyn Bodnar and accompanied on the<br />
piano by Arlene Miller.<br />
5. Barbara A. House, Chairman of Credentials Committee<br />
/ Report Submitted. Chairman Varga called upon<br />
Barbara A. House, Chairman of the Credentials Committee<br />
for the Credentials Committee Report.<br />
The Board of Directors, in compliance with Article II,<br />
Section 204, Point 1 of the WPA By-Laws, unanimously<br />
approved the following as members of the Credentials<br />
Committee and Chairman House introduced the members<br />
of the Credentials Committee:<br />

The Credentials Committee met on Sunday, September<br />
2, 2007, from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Board Room at<br />
the Hilton Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA.<br />
We, the appointed Credentials Committee, hereby<br />
certify that (35) Delegate District Chairmen’s Reports of<br />
Election of Delegates were submitted to National Vice<br />
President/Secretary Richard W. Toth and approved.<br />
In addition, we, the appointed Credentials Committee,<br />
reviewed and verified the Delegates Approval Letters, the<br />
Delegates / Ex-Officio Delegates Certification Letters with<br />
signed index cards and the (4) official notices published in<br />
the <strong>William</strong> <strong>Penn</strong> <strong>Life</strong>.<br />
On July 5, 2007, National V.P./Secretary Richard W.<br />
Toth, was informed that Charlene Kinder of the National<br />
Advisory Committee would not be able to attend WPA’s<br />
<strong>36th</strong> <strong>General</strong> <strong>Convention</strong>.<br />
On August 16, 2007, National V.P./Secretary Richard<br />
W. Toth was informed that Jennifer M. Nezolosky will not<br />
be able to attend WPA’s <strong>36th</strong> <strong>General</strong> <strong>Convention</strong>. National<br />
V.P./Secretary Toth certified First Alternate Donna<br />
Varga as Delegate to WPA’s <strong>36th</strong> <strong>General</strong> <strong>Convention</strong> on<br />
September 3-4-5, 2007 in Pittsburgh, PA.<br />
On August 22, 2007, National V.P./Secretary Richard<br />
W. Toth was informed that Sandor J. Yuhas will not be<br />
able to attend WPA’s <strong>36th</strong> <strong>General</strong> <strong>Convention</strong>. National<br />
V.P./Secretary Toth certified First Alternate Dorothy H.<br />
Kedves as Delegate to WPA’s <strong>36th</strong> <strong>General</strong> <strong>Convention</strong> on<br />
September 3-4-5, 2007 in Pittsburgh, PA<br />
There are seventy (70) elected delegates and twenty-four<br />
(24) Ex-Officio Delegates, which consists of three (3)<br />
National Officers, twelve (12) National Directors, six (6)<br />
National Auditing Committee Members and three (3)<br />
National Advisory Committee Members for a grand total of<br />
ninety-four (94) Delegates.<br />
