Whether it's families with school-aged ch¡ldren or
adults looking to futther the¡r educâtion, there are a
wide variety ofeducation opt¡ons in Vernon.
School District 22 provldes education for children
from kindergarten through grade 12. Elementery,
secondary and alternate schools offer numerous
learning programs to serve the needs of each child.
French ¡mmersion, Montessori, English as a Second
L¿nguâge and Aboriginal education programs, ãs
well as a home-based learning program, soccer and
hockey academies, outdoor school, fine arts and
apprenticeship programs are available. ln addition,
there are ttansportãtion p¡ograms in place for
most schools.
Adults seeking post-secondary or continuinq
education also have a vâr¡ety ofopt¡ons.
Okanagan College provides applied degree, diploma
and cert¡ficate programs in several ñelds of study
wh¡le the Un¡vers¡ty of BC-Okanagan offers several
degree programs for gfaduãte and undergraduate
students. The Okanagan Valley College of Massage
Therapy Ltd. and Sprott 5haw College are also
located in Vernon. And there is ã wide selection
of community progremming that offers several
non-cred¡t coursel appealing to ã broad var¡ety of
interests.

services. ln Vernon, the Child Care Resource and
Referral Program can help parents find the childcare
options they and thelr chlldren need.
As part of a province-wide ptogram, the Vernon
Chlld Care Resource Progrãm ¡s a one-stop shop for
parents and offers free consultation, support and
referral services for childcâte. Parent¡ng informat¡on,
a resource library and parentlng workshops are
available, as are special family events, a toyJending
library and information on child care grants and
subsidy programs. Parents can bring their children
to drop-¡n play times, ellow¡ng them to meet other
families in the community ând shere resources.
Families can also access other childcare plôgramt
including after-school activ¡ties, day amps, early
childhood progêms, outdoor activ¡t¡es, prognms for
children w¡th d¡sabil¡ties ând much more.
