. The occupancy rate at the Gateway Shelter has been
consistent with 100% of the men's accommodations full
and approximately 75% for women. lt was noted that
the women's accommodations is starting to increase.
. A coordinated project is being investigated to create
supporled safe housing for women with addictions or
substance abuse. There would be the requirement to
have a case manager/coordinator employed at the site.
SCHUBERT CENTRE
UPDATE
NEEDS ASSESSMENT
Jack Gareb, senior's representative will provide an update on
the Schubert Centre at the next AHAC meeting.
An extensive 'Needs Assessment' for Vernon is a tool that
could assist developers and non profits in targeting where the
housing needs are for different types of dwellings.
The data that would be collected would provide concrete
information in terms of absorption rates (or market) for
particular types of housing and may change the element of risk
for developers,
ACTION ITEM: Dale Rintoul will ask the Long Range Planner
about a Needs Assessment that was done previously in
another community to see what results were obtained.
