ADOPTION OF MINUTES Moved by Kim Nasipayko, seconded by Elaine Borden:
That the minutes of the Communities in Bloom
Committee meeting held Friday, November 5, 2010 be
adopted.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
HERITAGE TREE ART
BOOK PROJECT
Support and excitement for this project was noted from the
Art Gallery, Arts Center, Museum, Heritage Advisory
Committee, John Lent at Okanagan College.
Kal Press may be able to provide the printing at cost. They
can provide a quote once more information is given regarding
characteristics of the book, number of pages, etc.
Grant options were discussed, being that the project
incorporates a variety of aspects: art, culture, heritage and
environment.
Book will be comprised of photographs of art in various
mediums as well as information on the trees and artists.
Members suggested considering Morten Byskov for the
photography, as he has donated a gallery of photos to CiB in
the past.
A 'two book' option was discussed -
one hard cover coffee
table version with a sleeve, and one smaller less expensive
version for use with walking tours etc. lt would be beneficial
to develop a marketing plan to determine cost and potential
return of books.
Timeline should be longer than one year to allow for seasonal
photos and give artists adequate time to work, as well as the
opportunity for better promotion and fund raising. Art exhibit
could be booked for July 2012 to fall within CiB judges visit.
Book marketing ideas were brainstormed, including sale in
the 'local' area of Chapters - lndigo (Kelowna) and Coles
(Vernon).
