The City of Calgary: Tree protection bylaws Page2 of2 Tree and stump removal is considered a last resort for development sites and the City requests that developers consider alternatives or modifications prior to application. Please note, authorization to remove a public tree will not be provided until the Development Permit or Building Permit (Residential House Move or Demolition) has been approved by Development & Building Approvals. The CltyolCaþary Parks Dnwnloads The City of Calgary Parks Planting Incentive Program (PIP) is a tree planting program approved by City Council for residential City property only. Community associations, neighbourhood groups or individuals may apply to plant trees in conjunction with The City of Calgary Parks on a 507o matching basis. If you would like an application mailedtoyou, please contact Parks Urban Forestry at 3-1-1. View a list of trees Ë 1SZ KB) that may possibly be planted in your yard. The applícation deadline is June 30 of each year. Applications are prioritized on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parks staff and Urban Forestry supervisors will review all applications, meet with applicants and provide recommendations on species and site locations. Parks will apply for line assignment approval from the Engineering department. Upon confirmation of line assignment approval, a Parks invoice will be issued for payment by the applicant. Time permitting, tree hole preparation will be done in the fall with planting in the following spring. PIP Guidelines 1. Total group requests will be limited to a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 50 trees per community association area. 2. Total group and individual requests will not exceed 50 trees per community association area. 3. Tree(s) will be selected from a master list. These trees will be 50 to 60mm calliper in wire baskets (unless otherwise approved in writing). The actual selection will be approved by Calgary Parks based on existing trees, availability, other site conditions and developing or maintaining the integrity of the streetscape. 4. Tree plantings may not be permitted in certain locations due to conflicts with utility services and other standard restrictions. To minimize potential conflicts with utilities or future development, a permit for street planting must be obtained. This permit is called a line assignment. 5. The price includes a 50 to 60 mm tree, hole preparatÍon, planting and the first initial watering. 6.
