CITY OF VERNON CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
Corporate sponsorship has played an important role in supporting Vernon's
Sustainability Events by forming a complementary partnership between the City,
businesses and the community. Corporate sponsors contribute in-kind or financial
assistance and become involved in events that meet their company's vision and
interests. ln exchange, the City has the opportunity to provide sponsors with community
exposure and the potential for a high return on investment.
ln seeking corporate sponsorship, the City of Vernon invites businesses to show their
commitment to sustainability and get involved in hosting Sustainability Events.
Corporate support for events makes them attractive to community members by creating
events that are unique to Vernon while providing a venue to showcase local businesses,
their leadership and their products and services.
ln 2010, Vernon received both in-kind and cash sponsorship from thirty organizations in
support of 2010 Sustainability Events. Seven Platinum Sponsors committed to
sponsoring all events throughout the year, to a minimum total of $3000. This sponsor
dedication resulted in increased media coverage, a wide variety of prizes for event
participants, technical and logistical support at events, refreshments and prizes for
volunteers, event entertainment and more. lt is anticipated that continuation of this
sponsorship program in 2011 will build of the successful relationships developed in
2010 by offering businesses the opportunity to provide the public with information about
their products and services, promote common causes and showcase leadership
inítiatives while enhancing community networks that support ongoing sustainability and
collaboration on future initiatives.
