The 251h Anniversary Relay Team will be responsible for all
logistics and communications associated with the final selection,
scheduling and coordination of the 7,000 participants that will
carry the Rick Hansen Medal across the country. These difference
makers and their inspirational stories will showcase the difference
they have made in their communities, and remind us that we can
all be powerful champions of change and work together to build a
better world,
The majority of the partrcipants will be selected through a public
contest that will be launched in spring o12OI1. The Final
Community Participant that will carry the Rick Hasen Medal into
your End of Day Celebration will be selected through the valued
recommendations from Community Planning Teams such as yours,

One of the most exciting benefits of hosting an End of Day
Celebration is the opportunity for your Community Planning Team
to recommend the Final Community Participant who will carry the
Rick Hansen Medal in your community and into your End of Day
Celebration.
Rick Hansen has devoted his life to finding a cure for spinal cord
injury and removing barriers. He has made a difference in the
lives of so many people. Undoubtedly your community is home to
someone who has also inspired others or made a difference in one
way or another to those who might benefit from a helping hand.
We look to the Community Planning Team to nominate one
individual who should be honoured with this special recognition.
We hope that it will be an incredible honour to be selected as the
Final Community Participant, and the End of Day Celebration will
provide an outstanding platform for the community to celebrate
the positive difference that this individual has made - recognizing
them for their inspirational and remarkable achievements.
