110 PER CENT BLESSING AND OPENING OF THE OLD BOYS’ GRANDSTAND TENNYSON EDITION College Captain Nicholas Fidler Welcome to the Official Opening and Blessing of the new St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace Old Boys’ Grandstand. The Very Reverend Dr David Pascoe God of wisdom and love, in 1961, you gathered the Christian Brothers, lay teachers, parents and young men of Terrace here at Tennyson as the Terrace Family to develop a place of belonging, companionship and community. The Tennyson playing fields have connected us with one another, our families and our stories. The floods of early 2011 were a reminder of how much we value this place of community and we rejoice in the opportunity for renewal and rebirth offered to us in coming home to Tennyson today. In our 139th year, we pray in thanksgiving for the gifts Tennyson has brought to our lives. We pray with gratitude for the continuing mission of the Christian Brothers and the unfolding dream of Blessed Edmund Rice. Their vision and commitment to the Gospel has lit a path for us to follow. We pray that this magnificent grandstand is a place where the light of Christ shines and spreads across our fields, igniting our boys with your Spirit and bringing our community together in Your Name. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. We ask for God’s blessing on the Old Boy’s Grandstand as a place of special meaning for the community of Terrace. May this gathering place be a sign of opportunity and joy for all who come here to play, coach and support. May they be drawn together in a spirit of co-operation and enthusiasm as they share their many gifts. May this place serve as a reminder of your presence in our lives.
