110 PER CENT
0 Basketball - Mr Sam Mackinnon
The 2014 GPS Basketball season
tips off this Saturday with
20 Terrace teams competing in
Round 1 of games against Brisbane
Grammar School.
I would like to acknowledge the
30-plus coaches who have been
working with our young men
from Year 5 through to the 1st
V. It is exciting to see more than
200 young men participate in
the Basketball program and I
hope we can strengthen and develop
the program over the coming
years.
The Terrace season launch was
held at Waterford Place last
weekend and it was great to see
so many of the younger years
and their families in attendance
and watch our 1st V team in a
convincing win against St Peter’s.
Thank-you to the Basketball Supporters’
Group, headed by Judy
Soong, for their hard work in
making this day such a success.
The 1st V squad has enjoyed an
excellent pre-season led by Mr
Hamilton-Smith and Mr Latimer
which included an intensive
camp at Tallebudgera over the
Easter break and 12 pre-season
games, winning eight.
In addition, many of the Terrace
boys have been playing for
Brothers in the U16 and U18 age
groups at Auchenflower on Friday
nights with positive results
TENNYSON EDITION
and four teams qualifying for finals.
Our Primary Basketball teams
compete in the GPS this season
and we have five teams representing
Years 5-7. For many,
this is their first introduction to
Basketball. The focus has been
teaching basic fundamentals
and team concepts to provide a
strong foundation for our players
as they start their Basketball
journey at Terrace.
I have been impressed by the
players’ commitment and hard
work and look forward to my
first season being involved with
Terrace Basketball.
See you at the Terradome
