How to use this book
Products in the Vistek Rental Price Book are conveniently categorized by type of equipment.
Lighting is together, digital cameras are in another section, video editing equipment is grouped
etc. Check out the Table of Contents on the following page to see where the tools you need
are located. In relevant sections there are also handy reference charts for lens focal lengths,
flash duration, filters and other technical data. These useful resources are also listed in
the Table of Contents. We hope you find the information useful.
billed at the Add’l Day rate and each week is at the last rate. For longer term rentals please ask
for special pricing.
Rental Assistance Information
any damage or replacement charges, when and if applicable. It is our responsibility to ensure
the equipment you rent is complete and in good working order when it leaves our premises.
Lighting – Light Banks 1st day Add’l day Week
LIGHT BANKS
Light Banks are adaptable to most flash heads. When you rent from Vistek, all necessary
mounting hardware is supplied.
The widest variety of collapsible light banks. Chimera Lightbanks transform a direct, hard light into
a directional soft light which blends with natural light and gives form to the subject. Well-suited to
studio and location work in portraiture, fashion, industrial or product photography. As a
general rule, lightbanks should be at least as large as your subject and whether you opt for white
or silver interiors is a subjective choice between softer (white) or more specular (silver) light.
Chimera Super Pro Bank
Features include a recessed front screen that helps to control flare and fall-off, a large hook &
loop-sealed rear opening that will accommodate up to three heads, and full compatibility with
all Chimera accessories. Super Pro banks are available with silver and white interiors and offer
natural, window-like controllable lighting.
Chimera Super Pro Plus Bank
Features include front screen removability and interchangeability. Removal of the front screen
permits access to the Lightbank’s interior and the choice of three densities of diffusion screen.
The bank can accommodate three heads with a choice of white or silver interior.
Chimera Pro Bank
The original classic Chimera light bank, which later became the basis for enhanced Supers and
simplified Pro IIs. Its flush screen allows you to “gang” Lightbanks for uninterrupted illumination.
It will accommodate three heads with the triple head Speed Ring assembly. The interior provides
a removable second diffuser and comes in white.
Chimera Pro II Bank
Simple, clean design, accepts two heads with the double head bracket. Available in rectangular
and strip format.
Chimera Mini / Maxi Banks
Designed for extra compatibility with portable strobes. Mount on a stand or directly on the
camera. Frame horizontally or vertically and experience a softening of light quality that
blends perfectly with natural light.
VIDEO
We rent video editing gear and camcorders in both MiniDV and DVCPRO formats from
Sony and Panasonic as well as Panasonic AG series industrial S-VHS camcorders and VTRs.
We also offer Hi8 editing packages from Sony. To complete your production choose from a
huge range of accessories including lights, wireless microphones, SteadiCams, special
effects generators, video titlers and more.
Pro-tip: Even with today’s low lux level camcorders, shooting under low lighting conditions produces
a poor video signal. Using a video light can make the difference between a good picture
and an excellent one by boosting video performance and colour saturation. We can fit you with a
wide range of lights from a camera-mounted 100 watt DC enhancement light to 1000 watt AC
lights on stands. See “Quartz and Video Lighting” and “Video Accessories”.
