Kenneth J. Alvey has been named executive vice president of the Lake Erie<br />
Marine Trades Association (LEMTA). Alvey is the former chief of the Ohio<br />
Division of Watercraft and brings a 30-year background in boating programs<br />
management, safety education, law enforcement and facilities development<br />
projects to his new position. “He’s a perfect fit,” said LEMTA board chairman<br />
Dave Gerbe. “Alvey has headed up one of the nation’s most successful boating<br />
programs. He and our current president, Norm Schultz, have worked<br />
together on a variety of boating events, projects and legislative initiatives in<br />
what has been called a model public-private partnership spanning many<br />
years. He is very popular with Ohio’s major boat-owner organizations and<br />
brings a wealth of experience working with state and federal lawmakers and<br />
regulatory agencies to expand boating opportunities.” Alvey will take over as<br />
president on May 1.<br />

Certification<br />
McMachen Marine in Harrison Township, Michigan is now certified<br />
under NMMA’s Five-Star Solution program. It’s the first company to<br />
achieve this certification in the state. To become certified, a dealer must be<br />
considered proficient in all aspects, especially customer service and satisfaction,<br />
and must adhere to a “Consumer Bill of Rights.” This document<br />
will be posted to let customers know what to expect. McMachen Marine<br />
has been in the boating business for more than 50 years.<br />
