Compressed air is air that has been forced into a space
smaller than it would normally occupy.
Rather than squeezing the room smaller, suppose we instead forced air into a
chamber or container...
As the compressor pumps air (forces air into the
cylinder), the pressure within the cylinder
(reservoir) begins to increase. That pressure is
exerted against all the surfaces of the reservoir at
the same time, and at the same pressure.This
compressed air can then be used to mechanical
advantage in the operation of the vehicles brakes.
