functionality within the space of personal circumstances pay<br />

proper heed to such crucial dynamics as the role of informal<br />

institutions in the societies of developing world. This helps in<br />

both identifying the existing states of human development<br />

and influencing the trajectories of development intervention<br />

towards the desired thresholds. The outline provided in the<br />

above lines gives an indication of how such a framework<br />

could be configured. It obviously runs short of a compact<br />

model, but the intention was not so much to provide a plan<br />

but to throw some feelers in the directions from which<br />

human development could be properly addressed. The aim<br />

would be considered achieved if these lines even stir up<br />

some thinking towards a revisiting of the prevailing<br />

paradigms of human development.<br />
