Work one-on-one with an ACE certified personal trainer to help 

meet your personal fitness goals through diet and exercise.

SUMMER ACTIVITY CAMPS 

It’s five days of non-stop fun! Take your child to a 

neighborhood camp so they can stay connected with friends. 

This 8-week recreational and educational based camp is held 

Monday–Friday starting May 28 through July 19 and is for 

kids ages 6–14. No camp held July 4–5. 

Campers will learn valuable skills from local experts on a 

variety of topics including cooking, money management, 

literacy and gang awareness. Of course the summer wouldn’t 

be complete without a few field trips, swimming, games, 

crafts, movies, and other fun recreational activities. 

Program Fees: A one-time registration fee of $10 per camper 

is required. The weekly cost varies by center and grant 

funded scholarships are available. To register, contact the 

facility you would like your child to attend to schedule an 

appointment, complete the required paperwork and discuss 

scholarship eligibility. 

** Scholarships are funded by the Community Services Block Grant through 

Kansas Housing Resources Corporation and Summer Activity Camps 

recreational activities are funded by the 21st Century Grant**

with Wichita Park & Rec! Summer of

HOOK A KID ON GOLF 

Register now at Orchard Recreation Center 

(Registration is only available in person or over the phone) 

After this one-week camp, your kids will be hooked on golf! 

This program is designed for first time golfers, ages 8 to 15 

who want to learn the basics. Each participant will receive 

a set of golf clubs along with a team polo shirt and hat! No 

experience necessary.

Specialty 

Camps 

These exciting, week-long themed camps will release 

your child’s imagination! Unlike traditional camps that 

involve a variety of activities, a specialty camp focuses 

on one topic related directly to the theme. Each week 

will engage the campers in physical and intellectual 

challenges, crafts and interactive games related 

directly to the theme. All camps run from 8am–5pm.

and hair styling, receive modeling tips and participate in 

a fashion shoot. On the last day you’ll rock the runway while

Avengers Training 

Join the legion of superheroes! Create a superhero character 

and costume, then learn how to use your super powers correctly 

when fighting crime. Flex your muscles and test your mental

Wonka’s Chocolate Factory 

Calling all Oompah Loompahs and anyone else who loves 

 

make mouth watering treats like chocolate mice, cookies that 

taste like Reese’s and candy. We’ll take time to play some fun 

Wonka games, too!

bring science to life! 


Jedi Training 

Come to a galaxy far away and earn your place on the Jedi 

Council! In one exciting week you will experience the true 

training of a Jedi, learn to use the force, develop light saber skills 

and gain your very own light saber! Come help restore the Jedi 

Order. 


Creative Treasures 

Find your path to creativity and have a blast exploring your 

inner artist! Campers will have fun creating a wide variety of 

crafts using polymer clay, decoupage, beaded jewelry, duct tape 

projects, stained glass nuggets and more! You’ll be proud to 

display these creative art pieces!

Outdoor Adventure Camp 

Put down those video games and get out in the fresh air!

G.I. Joes get ready for some action! Each platoon will participate 

in archery, sling shot firing ranges, boot camp obstacle courses,

Survivor 

The ultimate camp experience! Teams will participate in physical 

challenges along with mental contests such as puzzles, riddles 

and memory games as they try to outwit, outlast and outplay 

their fellow campers. A great team building experience!

FOUNTAINS 

Come cool off in one of our 5 interactive fountains! No 

admission fee is required. Fountains are open daily from 10 am

Make a Gourd Birdhouse 

This class is for the birds…literally! Make a Wren bird house to 

 

inside and sanding the outside of an apple gourd. Then enjoy 

the rest of the summer watching the birds nest, feed their young, 

and learn to fly. Children 6–12 must be accompanied by an adult, 

two children may register per adult. Fee is per child, free for adult 

supervising. Adult who wishes to make a separate bird house

Mommy & Me: Cupcake Decorating 

Making treats with a parent or loved one is always the icing on 

 

techniques for designing and decorating cupcakes. Wear clothes

Habitat Restoration: Taming the Wild

and explore ways to help preserve our natural heritage. Park 

Naturalists will discuss identification of natural and invasive species,

such as prescribed burning and manual removal. Several service

through Wichita Park & Recreation. Registrations will not 

be accepted at partner locations. 

POLICIES 

It is the policy of this department to promote customer 

satisfaction for all programs and services. The following 

policies pertain to all Recreation programs unless otherwise 

noted in the program description. 

1. CLASS CANCELLATIONS. If Wichita Park & Recreation

you will receive a full credit on your Recreation Account 

or refund if you request it; no administrative fee will be 

deducted. 

2. REFUNDS. Wichita Park & Recreation will not issue 

refunds, except for classes cancelled or changed by

received in the office by mail, e-mail, or fax. Refunds
