2008
Danielle Roy has accepted an internship in the
Publications Department at the Guggenheim Museum,
located in Manhattan, New York.
Desiree Dorion was nominated for Best Female Artist
and Best Country Recording at the 2011 Native American
Music Awards for her debut recording, Soul Back Jack.
Desiree also picked up a North American Indigenous
Image Award for Outstanding Country Album in 2011,
and was nominated at the Indian Summer Music Awards.
Meghan Campbell completed her LL.M. last year at the
University of Edinburgh. Says Meghan, “studying at The
University of Edinburgh was a fantastic opportunity.
The students in the LL.M. program were from all over
the world, and the diversity of opinion added depth to
the class discussions, which broadened my viewpoints.
The faculty was always eager to help, while challenging
me to develop my own ideas. Living in a foreign city is
always a great experience; Edinburgh is a beautiful place
with a great student atmosphere.” In the fall Meghan
started her PhD at the University of Oxford, where she
will be researching the relationship between equality
and socio-economic rights. “My legal education at the
University of Manitoba allowed me to develop the skills
necessary to achieve my goals.”
Rachael Hatherell and Daniel Minuk are engaged to
be married. Daniel proposed using the Winnipeg Free
Press Cryptoquip puzzle. Their story was featured in the
Monday, July 2, 2012 edition of the Winnipeg Free Press.
2010
Jillian Nichols is
currently articling at
MPI. She will be taking
a Masters Program
in International
Humanitarian Law and
Human Rights, offered
by the Geneva Academy
of International
Humanitarian Law
and Human Rights.
The program includes courses covering various fields
of international law applicable in armed conflicts and
emergency situations, and an LL.M. dissertation. She
hopes to go on to work for the International
Committee of the Red Cross.
