What is the QCE?
The Queensland Certificate of Education is
Queensland’s senior school qualification. It is
awarded to eligible students, usually at the end
of Year 12.
A QCE is awarded to students only if their
course of study satisfies:
– a significant amount of learning
– at a set standard of achievement
– in a set pattern
– literacy & numeracy requirements

Traineeships for Year 10 Students
• Start at the beginning of Term 3.
• Traineeships worth 4 – 8 QCE credit points.
• Traineeship students generally only do five school subjects
and are at school 4 days per week, the other day being on
the job.

NCC Pathways in 2013-15
Subject selection should be based on the career goal of the
student.
This means choosing subjects that they are interested in and
good at, rather than other reasons such as friends choices.
This needs to be balanced by the reality that no subject will be
interesting to any student 100% of the time.
Subjects are designed to run for 4 semesters, and a full course
is 4 semesters.
