available Monday-Saturday<br />

• Urgent ECG service with 1-2 hour turnaround time<br />

• Urgent Holter monitor service available with 36<br />

hour turnaround time<br />

• Convenient access to our service at more than<br />

100 collection centres<br />

• A full range of pathology testing for cardiology<br />

Specialist Cardiologists<br />

• Dr Peter Hansen, Director of <strong>Cardiology</strong><br />

• Associate Professor Gary Sholler, consultant Paediatric<br />

Cardiologist, reports all paediatric ECGs and Holter<br />

monitors<br />

• Cardiologist on-site daily at Macquarie Park<br />

• A Specialist Cardiologist is available for consultation,<br />

emergencies and after hours clinical support<br />

ECG Service<br />

No appointment needed<br />

• All our collection centres are equipped with ECG<br />

machines<br />

• No appointment is required for an ECG at any of our<br />

centres<br />

• Patients, other than pensioners and health care card<br />

holders, will receive an account for this test.<br />

As a referring doctor, you may request us to:<br />

• Perform and report the ECG (full ECG service)<br />

• Perform the ECG and return the trace (“trace only ECG”)<br />

• Report on an ECG already performed by the doctor<br />

(“report only ECG”)<br />

Holter Monitor Service<br />

Appointment required<br />

Holter monitors for elective investigations are provided by<br />

appointment through any of our collection centres<br />

• An urgent Holter monitor service is available on request<br />

• The Holter result is issued as a full, typed report. The<br />

recording is first analysed by a Cardiac Technician,<br />

who edits the data to produce a comprehensive<br />

report including a 24 hour disclosure.The result is then<br />

reviewed by our Cardiologist who issues the final report<br />

Ambulatory Blood Pressure<br />

Monitor Service<br />

Appointment required<br />

• Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring is available<br />

at more than 100 pathology collection centres. An<br />

appointment is required for this service<br />

• Highly accurate measurements are taken every half hour<br />

during the day and every hour during the night<br />

• A Day/Night button allows for statistically accurate<br />

evaluation of Day/Night phases as well as an exact<br />

documentation of the early blood pressure rise<br />

• A graphical report is generated plotting blood pressure<br />

versus time<br />

• At present, this service does not attract a Medicare<br />

rebate and patients will be billed privately<br />

Specialist Cardiologists<br />

Dr Peter Hansen MB, BS, PhD, DDU, FRACP<br />

Senior Cardiologist and Director of <strong>Cardiology</strong><br />

Dr Hansen works in our <strong>Cardiology</strong> Department reporting ECGs, Holter Monitors and BP Monitors.<br />

He is available to report on urgent ECGs. Dr Hansen is the Senior Staff Specialist of the Department<br />

of <strong>Cardiology</strong> at Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital (St Leonards, NSW). Dr<br />

Hansen is highly regarded by his colleagues and has an excellent professional reputation in all aspects<br />

of cardiology. He specialises in diagnostic coronary angiography and interventional cardiology.<br />

Associate Professor Gary Sholler MB, BS (1st Hons), FRACP<br />

Paediatric Cardiologist<br />

Associate Professor Sholler is Director of <strong>Cardiology</strong> at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and<br />

works at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney Children’s Hospital, and visits Royal Prince Alfred<br />

Hospital. He has private consulting rooms at Westmead and North Shore Private Hospital. He is<br />

involved in a full range of foetal and paediatric cardiac diagnosis (echocardiography and cardiac<br />

catheter intervention) and management, and researches and lectures in these areas. Associate<br />

Professor Sholler reports on routine ECGs and Holters for all children, up to the age of 12 years, to<br />

offer appropriate paediatric evaluations.<br />

Dr Michael Kennedy MB, BS, MD, FRACP<br />

Senior Consultant Cardiologist<br />

Dr Michael Kennedy has been a consultant physician at his own private cardiology practice in Manly,<br />

NSW since 1977. Dr Kennedy is a VMO physician at Manly Hospital and a VMO cardiologist at the<br />

Mater Private Hospital in Crows Nest. He has a special interest in cardiovascular therapeutics and<br />

non-invasive cardiac diagnosis.<br />

Dr Logan Kanagaratnam MB, BS, DDU, FRACP<br />

Consultant Cardiologist<br />

Dr Kanagaratnam works in our <strong>Cardiology</strong> Department reporting on ECGs, Holter Monitors and BP<br />

Monitors. Dr Kanagaratnam is a senior staff member at the Department of <strong>Cardiology</strong> at Royal North<br />

Shore Hospital and Ryde Hospital. He specialises in electrophysiology.<br />

Dr Joseph Chiha B Med Sc MB,BS (Hons) FRACP<br />

Consultant Cardiologist<br />

Dr Chiha works in our <strong>Cardiology</strong> Department reporting on ECGs, Holter monitors and BP monitors.<br />

He is a private cardiologist based in Westmead. He has an interest in interventional cardiology and is<br />

currently undertaking research in early detection of coronary artery disease and non-invasive cardiac<br />

diagnosis.<br />

Dr Eddy Kizana MB, BS, PhD, FRACP<br />

Consultant Cardiologist<br />

Dr Kizana works in our <strong>Cardiology</strong> Department reporting on ECGs, Holter monitors and BP monitors.<br />

He is a staff specialist (academic) in the Department of <strong>Cardiology</strong> at Westmead Hospital and<br />

a senior lecturer at The University of Sydney. His clinical and academic interests are in cardiac<br />

electrophysiology.
