ModulAiR Advantages
ModulAiR A/C’s are created by combining quantity
two CyberONE single compressor 3.5, 5, 8 or 10 ton
systems to create quantity one dual compressor 7, 10, 16
or 20 ton system. The result is a large tonnage system in
a very compact foot-print that solves difficult rigging
applications.
Small Elevator? Easy Rigging:
Many service elevators are too small to accomodate the
rigging of typical 1-piece computer room A/C cabinet. As
a result, the historical solution to this rigging problem, has
been to field “cut-down and disassemble”, and then field
“reassemble” the air conditioner. This historical approach
is not only time consuming and costly to the owner, it is
also very risky to the long-term reliable operation of the
air conditioner. ModulAiR units are designed to be the
cost saving, reliable solution to these difficult rigging
problems.
ModulAiR Systems Offer Outstanding Benefits
Flexibility
A wide variety of types are available to meet your unique
schedule allows the user to limit unit
operation to occupied periods only.
Night Set-Back Feature:
The Night Set-Back feature enables
the user to create a schedule for
automatic relaxing of the unit's
temperature and humidity control set
points. For example, during the
space occupied periods of 7am to
6pm, the unit operates at a temperature
setpoint of 72°F. Then, during
the space unoccupied periods of
6pm to 7am the next morning, the
temperature setpoint automatically
"relaxes" to 77°F. The Set-Back
schedule resets again after 7am that
morning where the temperature
setpoint changes back to 72°F for
Day Time Operation.
Override Feature:
During the unoccupied time cycles,
MULTI-UNIT "N+1"
SEQUENCING
(Optional)
AC-1 AC-2 AC-3
(Master)
AC-4 AC-5 AC-6
(Standby)
Critical control applications can
incorporate the A-Tech-20's Cyber-
LAN multi-unit sequencing program
logic, where under an A/C failure
condition, the A-Tech-20 will automatically
initiate the unit operation of
a designated standby/backup unit.
Multi-Unit Sequencing:
Multiple CyberAiR air conditioners
incorporating A-Tech-20 controls can
be configured in groups of up to 6
(six) units to allow for "N+1" redundancy/backup
critical application
operation.
The "N" in N+1, represents the
number of concurrent units in an On-
Line Operational Mode with 1(one)
unit in a standby mode. The value of
"N" can range from 1 unit to a
maximum of 5 units with a minimum
and maximum of quantity 1 unit in
standby mode.
3-8

Microprocessor Controls - A-Tech-20
To allow for equal unit runtime and/or
to ensure unit operation, the A-Tech-
20 can be configured for automatic
timed and/or manual lead-lag of
standby unit operation.
The CyberLAN Multi-Unit Sequencing
control logic shall automatically
initiate the current standby unit upon
a user selectable system failure
alarm condition.
The A-Tech-20 is programmed to
automatically change from current
primary unit operation to secondary
standby unit operation via three
methods:
1) Manual ChangeOver
2) Automatic Timed (1-30 days)
3) Automatic ChangeOver on Unit
Failure (if applicable):
• High Temperature
• Low Temperature
• High Humidity
• Low Humidity
• High Head Press
• Low Suction Press
• Sensor Failure
• Loss of Air Flow
• Dirty Filter
• Leak Detection
• Smoke Detection
• Firestat
• GC Pump Failure
• Comm. Failure
Factory defaults set a "logical" active/
inactive state for the alarms. This is
to limit "nuisance" type alarms that
may occur because of conditions
inherent to a particular application or
system and that are not critical to the
operation of the system.
(For example: If Low Humidity is not
critical to a particular application, and
therefore, the A/C unit is not equipped
with a Humidifier, the Low Humidity Alarm
can be set to an inactive state.)
Multi-Unit Network Grouping
Interconnect Cable Options:
• 75 ft. cable length (standard option)
• 150 ft. cable length
Capacity Assist-Mode:
(Additionally Optional)
In addition to switchover via manual,
automatic timed or failure, the
CyberLAN Multi-Unit Sequencing
“Capacity Assist-Mode” can initiate
switchover to standby unit operation
to assist in the temperature and/or
humidity control of the space.
Remote Wall Mounted
Capacity Assist T/H Sensor
Sequence of Operation:
The optional Capacity Assist Mode
includes quantity one remote wall
mounted Capacity Assist-Mode T/H
Sensor with interconnect cable. This
single capacity assist remote T/H
sensor controls all N+1 units in the
respective CyberLAN Group. To
establish a single point of control
reference, the CyberLAN Group’s
temperature and humidity set point is
determined by the Master Unit’s
(U1’s) A-Tech-20 setpoints. Therefore,
each of the current on-line units
of the CyberLAN Group operate and
control space temperature and/or
humidity based on the Master Unit’s
(U1’s) TEMP and HUMID SETPT in
respect to their individual deadband.
Capacity Assist Sensor Cable Options:
• 75 ft. cable length (standard option)
• 150 ft. cable length
The current standby unit is enabled
when the actual space temperature
or humidity rises or falls to a condition
equal to the Master Unit’s (U1’s)
setpoint plus dead-band plus stage
differential (if appl.) plus Capacity
Assist Differential.
(Note: As standard, each unit of a
CyberLAN Group incorporating Capacity
Assist Mode additionally includes its own
standard unit mounted return air T/H
sensor. If the Capacity Assist Sensor or its
communications cable were to fail, Multi-
Unit & Capacity Assist Mode operations will
be automatically disabled, and the N+1
Units will perform as stand-alone systems.
CyberLAN - REMOTE
COMMUNICATIONS
(Optional)
REMOTE BMS CONNECTION
(ModBus Gateway)
A-Tech-20 Inputs & Outputs can be
remotely monitored (address readable)
and remotely controlled
(address writable) via any building
management system (BMS) / local
area network (LAN) control system
that can communicate via a ModBus
protocol. Each A-Tech-20 configured
for BMS communication shall
incorporate an optional Serial
Communication Port that is field
wired to a factory provided wall
mounted ModBus Gateway.
(Note: A list of the addressable I/Os are
available upon request from your local
SATS Sales Representative.)
16 Units Per CyberLAN ModBus:
Each ModBus Gateway can accommodate
up to 16 (sixteen) A/C units
in a group.
The total number of Gateways
required for a given application may
not depend only on the number of
maximum (16) units each Gateway
can accommodate, but also the
facility layout.
(Note: The units of a CyberLAN
Networking Group must be connected to
each other and then to the ModBus
Gateway via shielded serial twisted-pair
cabling. This cabling is not included in
SATS' CyberLAN Remote Communications
/ ModBus Gateway option, as a
standard. This cabling is typically
provided by the installing contractor.)
