RM Advanced Personal <strong>Fitness</strong> Assessment Pull-ups<br />

PULL UPS<br />

1 The individual adopts, on the command, an overgrasp, shoulder width grip, hanging<br />

with the arms and body straight. On the command “Standby, 3-2-1”, ‘beep’ the<br />

arms are bent, body straight, until the chin is over the bar. On the second ‘beep’<br />

the arms and body are fully extended until the body is in the dead hang position.<br />

Equipment<br />

2 The following equipment is required:<br />

Safety<br />

a. Pull up bar or beam.<br />

b. Stopwatch and whistle.<br />

c. Pull up procedural brief.<br />

d. Result sheets.<br />

3 The Conducting Officer is to ensure the following safety procedures are adhered to:<br />

a. Pull up beams and bars are secure and checked.<br />

b. Individuals do not use their legs to aid the pull up movement.<br />

Supervision<br />

4 The following personnel are required to administer the assessment:<br />

a. Conducting Officer (RM PTI 1 or PT&SO).<br />

b. Scorers (As required and to have received a brief on the assessment<br />

procedures).<br />

c. Timekeepers (RM APFA tape or CD under the direction of the Conducting<br />

Officer).<br />

d. Recorder (Any JNCO).<br />

Assessment Procedure<br />

5 The Conducting Officer is to:<br />

a. Ensure that a pull-up procedural brief and demonstration is provided at the<br />

start of the assessment.<br />

b. Answer any questions.<br />

c. Monitor performance.<br />
