INTRODUCTION<br />

The aim and general outline of the CFT is as follows:<br />

a. The aim of the CFT is to measure aerobic capacity using a physically demanding<br />

criterion task (Loaded March), whilst accounting for the generic differences in<br />

aerobic fitness requirements between each Arm and Service.<br />

b. The test is a measure of basic vocational fitness.<br />

The CFT should be taken by all personnel within 3 CDO BDE. The CFT is “Age”<br />

free.<br />

Combat <strong>Fitness</strong> Test<br />

The CFT tests an individuals role by measuring critical fitness components, using<br />

a loaded speed march.<br />

Test Standards<br />

Complete a 12.8km loaded march (at least 4.8km to be off tarmac/metalled roads)<br />

in a maximum time of 2 hours, but not less than 1 hour 55 minutes. The time<br />

allowed is inclusive of any time taken for re-hydration stops, safety checks or any<br />

other essential administrative activity that is deemed necessary by the OIC.<br />

Rehydration stops (commonly referred to as water stops) are to be considered<br />

prior to the start of the test.<br />

The load carried of 25kg is inclusive of personal weapon<br />

and all ancillary items of equipment (helmet, Combat<br />

Body Armour (CBA) etc.)<br />
