As the global voice and authority on food
the World Association of Chefs Societies
is pleased to offer a globally standardised
training program for WACS Approved Judges.
WACS is dedicated to creating global
standards on culinary competitions and
qualified judges are the key ingredient.
WACS Culinary Competition Committee
has developed and implemented a Judging
Seminar Program that will be proposed
in all continents on a regular basis. WACS
member countries have the possibility to
licence the Judging Seminars for the benefit
of chefs in their region.
A QUALITY LABEL FOR YOUR COMPETITION
To ensure that culinary competitions are fair to all competitors, it is essential to apply
the same set of rules and guidelines throughout. The WACS Culinary Rules are updated
on a regular basis in order to comply with new trends and technology. A Committee,
representing all WACS Continents, meets regularly on an ongoing basis to develop universal
guidelines and criteria that can be easily understood and practically implemented
to achieve a consistent global standard. It is vitally important that all culinary competitions
follow and use these rules to ensure these standards are maintained.
OUR MISSION
The World Association of Chefs Societies is a non-political professional organization,
dedicated to maintaining and improving the culinary standards of global cuisines.
We accomplish these goals through education, training and professional development
of our international membership. As an authority and opinion leader on food, WACS
represents a global voice on all issues related to the culinary profession.
The Judging Seminar will, from now
on, be mandatory for all future WACS
Approved Judges. The objective is to create
international standards for all “WACS
Endorsed” culinary competitions. This is
a major breakthrough for competitors
who now can look at the label “WACS
Endorsed Competition” as a guarantee for
transparency, objectivity and overall quality.
This international standard scheme is a step
further for WACS in its objectives to raise
the standards of culinary competitions as
well as of global cuisines in general.

WACS CULINARY COMPETITION COMMITTEE
The WACS President appoints Culinary Competition Committee members. Their
role is to realise and apply international regulations, adapting these where necessary
according to circumstances and conditions. No alterations, as they relate to the rules,
can be made without the written approval of the Culinary Competition Committee
and the WACS Board.
The Culinary Competition Committee consists of representatives from the WACS
Continental Areas and are all WACS Approved Judges as required. For a full list of the
current committee members, visit the WACS website at www.worldchefs.org.
Organisers of culinary competitions may approach the committee members directly.
WACS APPROVED JUDGES
WACS maintains a list of carefully evaluated judges. WACS Approved Judges will make
sure that a fair and consistent level is achieved around the world with specific and
measured judging criteria along with standardised competition rules and guidelines. All
WACS Approved Judges must have attended a WACS Culinary Committee Approved
Judges Seminar. Organisers of culinary competitions can consult the online WACS
Approved Judges list and contact judges directly.

ORGANISE A JUDGING SEMINAR IN YOUR REGION
By organising a WACS Judging Seminar, you are contributing to improving culinary standards in your country and surrounding region.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Who can organise a Judging Seminar?
What is the cost of licence?

What does WACS provide?
- Judging Seminars can be organised by any WACS national member association who is in
good standing with membership fees.
- The education material is sold under a licence of 1000 €.
- The organiser must pay an allowance to instructor of 300 €
- The Organiser must cover eventual travel and accomodation expenses for seminar instructors.
- One licence is valid for a maximum of 15 persons per one instructor.
- The organiser, can invite additional observing audience of max 15 pers. per seminar if space allows.
- The organiser can demand a fee from each participant.This fee must be within reasonable
limits and must be communicated to WACS office prior to the seminar.
- WACS Judging Seminars are open to individual members of a WACS member association
who is in good standing with membership fees.
- Individual applications must be signed by the respective member country representative
and respective continental director.
- The seminar runs over two days. Day 1 : Theory studies. Day 2 : Practical training (usually
in conjunction with an ungoing competition).
- The Organiser is responsible for arranging a meeting room with a video projector.
- The Organiser is responsible for registration of participants in compliance with WACS Rules.
- To register participants in WACS judge list, the Organiser must provide a name list and
signed application forms of all participants who completed the seminar to WACS
(See above: “Who can attend a Judging Seminar?”)
- WACS provides a list of approved instructors from around the world that organisers can
choose from.
- WACS will announce the seminar on its website www.worldchefs.org and e-newsletter.
- Each participant completing the seminar will receive an authentic WACS Judge Certificate
and listing in WACS Judges List.
