The Dressmakers’ Pattern Bar will be returning to the
show with all of the latest patterns and books from
companies including Butterick, McCalls and Vogue. With
a dressmaking expert on hand to answer any of your
questions, this is a great place to begin a new sewing
project.
Have you always wanted to take up knitting but not
known where to start? If so, make sure you pop along
to the brand new Knitting Lounge where Belinda and
Ruth from the KNIT expo will be on hand to offer their
expertise. Take part in the ‘knitting wall’ where everyone
will be able to add in their own personal knitting style to
the project and also witness their knitting technique live
on film.

show! These exciting shows are hosted by
Brenda Killigrew from the Inkberrow Design Centre. Just
turn up, take your seat and enjoy!
Downton Abbey fans will adore the sumptuous costumes
on display from the hit ITV series. Written by award
winning writer Julian Fellowes, Downton Abbey has
captured the hearts of the nation with some of the finest
examples of Edwardian costume splendour. Featuring
a beautiful collection of some of the most iconic outfits
from the first series, each outfit shows the exquisite
needlework and craftsmanship that went into their
design. The collection includes dresses worn by Dame
Maggie Smith (Dowager Countess of Grantham), Elizabeth
McGoven (Countess of Grantham), Penelope Wilton
(Isobel Crawley) and the three daughters, Lady Mary, Lady
Edith and Lady Sybil Crawley.
Continuing the theme of costume dramas, the Quilters’
Guild of the British Isles’ collection, The Romance of Words,
is helping to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Jane
Austen’s ‘Sense and Sensibility’. Embracing the theme of
romance in the written form, each quilt has captured the
imagination of the maker and presents literal and lateral
interpretations of the subject.
Help to celebrate the best of British with the brand new
Glimpses of Blighty display, which will be judged at the
show. This exciting embroidery display will show the
best entries from the latest prestigious Stitch/Madeira
competition. With everything from Routemaster buses,
mini coopers and Mary Quant to red telephone boxes, the
sunny seaside and afternoon tea, this display will leave
you feeling proud to be British!
Poetry in Stitches 3 will continue the collaboration
of words and craft with the last round of this everpopular
project from the National Needlework Archive.
Inspired by poetry, textile artists have been asked to
combine the two forms to complement each other. This
exhibit will feature some of the best and truly stunning
interpretations.
The ever popular and award-winning
Hobbycrafts show will be offering top
tips and advice, hands-on workshops,
inspiration and an unrivalled choice of
supplies for all of your crafting needs.
Roll up your sleeves and get involved in one of the large
workshop area with FREE Make & Take sessions on a range
of crafts including beadwork, jewellery making, stamping,
card making, embossing, pyrography and papercraft.

Following his recent fame on ‘Kirstie’s Handmade Britain’, Jamie Chalmers aka

around the world and top tips and advice including learning the basics of cross
stitching, this is one feature not to be missed.
Brand new to this year’s show, the Sewing Hub will offer visitors a chance to
embrace the growing trend for ‘Make do and Mend’ with expert advice and
workshops from the professionals. Whether you are new to sewing, a returning
enthusiast in need of a confidence boost or are just looking for inspiration then
this is the place for you to develop your skills.
The Sewing Machine Clinic will offer mini workshops that are perfect for any
beginner to the craft. Pop along to learn how to thread your machine correctly
along with other essential techniques including inserting a zip, making a blindstitched
hem and sewing perfect buttonholes.
If you are looking for a way to reinvent and customise your wardrobe, textile
designer and author Charlotte Liddle will be on hand at the Stitch Diva’s Den
