and the community to develop practices and modify behaviour to reduce impacts on
stormwater quality.

2.1 Conduct training with relevant officers on effective 2008 PB and ID MW
site and stormwater management on construction
sites (in the context of Local Law No 7, Part 6 –
Stormwater protection).
2.2 Run education campaigns for Council staff targeting ongoing Ecoteam
issues effecting water quality.
2.3 Continue to involve Council staff in Clean Up ongoing Ecoteam and
Australia Day activities.

2a SMP Develop and Implement an awareness/education 2010 PB and EP
campaign (using existing information from the EPA
etc.) for builders and developers, targeting good
environmental design and site management practices.
2b ES Provide advice and support to community groups, ongoing EW and EP
such as Friends and Landcare groups, in undertaking
revegetation and regeneration along creek banks and
wetlands on Council and private land.
2c ES Support WACMAC Landcare to develop erosion ongoing EP WCC
control programs on private land.
2d Continue to provide the Landcare Support Grants ongoing EP
program to Landcare groups within the Shire for
revegetation and regeneration works on private land.
2e Continue to promote Council’s land management ongoing EP
incentive programs. This includes providing
assistance and funding support for rabbit and weed
control, sustainable stock management and fencing,
revegetation and bank stabilisation projects.
2f Work with Melbourne Water to promote the Stream ongoing EP MW
Frontage and Healthy Waterways Programs for
waterway protection works on private property in
priority areas.
2g ES Promote programs which deter and discourage ongoing ML and IM
littering and rubbish dumping.
2h ES Continue to promote and support Clean-up Australia ongoing IM
Day activities for the community.
2i SMP Develop and implement an education campaign 2008 EP, ED and PH
program with local traders (Main Road, Eltham,
Diamond Creek, Bolton Street (Eltham) and Research
commercial areas), focusing on the impacts of
sweeping rubbish and depositing kitchen waste into
stormwater drains.
2j SMP Continue to develop and implement an 2008 EP
awareness/education campaign to encourage
industrial sites (Elizabeth Street, Diamond Creek
and Susan Street, Eltham) to improve the quality
of stormwater runoff and provide information on
methods available to improve the quality of stormwater
runoff from their properties (e.g. paving, gravel
driveways, bunding storage areas, using interceptor
traps, etc.) and implementing an enforcement
campaign in conjunction with the awareness/education
campaign as appropriate.
2k Develop an education and incentive program for 2008 PH and IM
non smoking venue operators in effectively managing
cigarette butt waste outside their property.
