Objective 3: Work in partnership with key stakeholders to develop water
conservation programs for Council and the community.
2.21 Investigate stormwater harvesting opportunities for irrigation. 2007 IM and ID

vehicle washing and road grading activities.
2.27 Install meters at each pool to monitor make up 2007 LS
water consumption.

2a Support water-saving measures outlined in Securing Our ongoing EP
Water Future Together White Paper i.e. promote the
installation of water saving measures within the community.
2b Investigate the feasibility of offering incentives to reduce 2008 EP MW and

water audits and follow up advice, free water efficient
product give-aways, indigenous plant and mulch giveaways.
2c Support programs allowing for home water and energy ongoing EP SGA
audits undertaken by accredited professionals,
i.e. GreenPlumbers and GreenGardeners.
2d Develop water conservation information for the community. 2009 EP SGA
Information may include Council’s guidelines on rainwater
tank and greywater system installations, a directory of local
GreenPlumbers and GreenGardeners, information on
water-efficient household appliances, listing of local
indigenous plant species and information on stormwater
quality.
2e Continue to promote the Sustainable Schools program to ongoing EP
local schools.
2f Develop and implement planning and building controls that 2009 PH
support and encourage the installation of greywater reuse
systems by the community.

3.7 Investigate potential sewer mining projects with Melbourne ongoing LS, EP and ID YVW
Water and Yarra Valley Water, e.g. Eltham Main Sewer.

3.8 Work with Whittlesea City Council to investigate/prepare 2008 ESP WCC
business cases for decentralised waste water treatment
systems in the Plenty Growth Corridor.

3.e Facilitate and assist community organisations to develop
