SUMMIT 2013
WORKSHOPS
Pre-Conference Workshop: Tuesday, 13 August 2013
Efficient Port Operations and Logistics Management
Philippines has almost doubled its port capacities in the past
5 years but several ports remain underutilized and inefficient.
This has contributed to high costs of shipping coupled with
negative implications for the country’s competitiveness and
growth. This workshop will provide port operators and users
of Philippines Ports to improve operational efficiencies
through effective capacity utilization and logistics
management.
Workshop Outline:
• Workflow processes in ports
• Understanding the issues behind congestions and
bottlenecks
• Key operational challenges and overcoming them
• Case studies from other ports in the region
• Small group discussions on identifying problems and
implementing solutions on efficient port management.
EPC Contract Negotiation and Management
Construction projects in port and marine related sectors are
complex in nature. The evolving regulatory compliance, range
of stakeholders involved, contract negotiation and
management will require detailed understanding of the legal
implications in the contract. This workshop will provide port
operators, EPC companies and solution providers the practical
information to enable them to enhance the commercial value
for their port projects.
Workshop Outline:
• EPC Contracts – types, risks, specifics and technicalities
• Agreeing on contract specifications and key deliverables
• Performance measures and service levels for contractors
• Monitoring procedures
• Dispute resolution
