HTI FOR YOU: Mister Strauss, FACC is known as one
of the worldwide leading companies in the development
and production of fiber composites and –
systems for the aviation industry. Our division Aircraft
meanwhile belongs to your Top-3 suppliers.
What was the crucial criterion for FACC to award
us with the ‘Excellent Supplier Award’ in bronze?
Mister Strauss: Besides first-class delivery punctuality
and high product quality mainly the flexibility
in the everyday cooperation as well as the proven
will for further development and renewal of existing
structures were crucial.
HTI FOR YOU: Which areas are covered by this cooperation?
Mister Strauss: The cooperation includes co-operative
development, coordinated design activities
and the production towards organization and execution
of the related logistics, which safeguards
just-in-time receipt at FACC.
HTI FOR YOU: To which extent is our division Aircraft
involved in the further development of your
company/your products?
Mister Strauss: Above-average performance of our
suppliers is of significant importance for the future
success of FACC. Due to the cooperative input of
innovations and ideas HTP Aircraft supports us with
the further development of our own products and
hence substantially contributes towards the
strengthening of the market position of FACC.
HTI FOR YOU: Just recently you have ordered component
parts for the Legacy 450/500 by Embraer
and for the A350 XWB. What were your reasons for
choosing us for the realization of these projects?
Mister Strauss: Apart from the technical expertise
mainly the close location, flexibility and reliability
of HTP which is essential for such time-critical
development projects.
HTI FOR YOU: In the public eye flying is considered
as harmful for the environment. Also the noise
issues are often the center of public discussions.
How do you think the aircraft manufacturers and
their suppliers can contribute to a conscious and
respectful way of treating the environment?
Mister Strauss: The conscious and preserving
dealing with the environment and its natural resources
is a substantial obligation and challenge for the
aircraft manufacturers and their suppliers. Already
today the weight is the core issue for product developments,
since this is in direct connection with fuel
consumption and hence the consequent emissions.
HTI FOR YOU asked Mister Manuel Strauss, purchase manager
‘Interior’ of FACC for an interview and talked to him about partnership,
strengthening of the competitive position, the contribution of the
aircraft manufacturers towards the environment as well as the
air traffic of the future.
Synergies from composite materials as well as
other lightweight materials like plastics and aluminum
hence not only allow the production of innovative
products, but also portray a significant step for
preserving our natural habitat. Also regarding the
above mentioned noise issues, exactly the use of
composites and other lightweight materials allow
the development of noise-reduced engine parts and
aircraft components, like they are being produced
by FACC.
HTI FOR YOU: The importance
of flying for economy and society
were once again brought
to our attention during the
days of the standstill due to
the volcanic eruptions. How
do you see the development
of the aviation industry resp.
the development of your company
within the next three
years?
Manuel Strauss
Mister Strauss: The civil aviation
market develops dynamically despite the latest
turbulences in the economic environment, which is
influenced by the crisis of the financial system in
Europe and the consequent slowdown of the global
economic growth. The aircraft manufacturers still
record a high demand in the aviation business and
hence anticipate that the high order level will safeguard
the growth for the coming years, which – from
today’s point of view – for FACC will reflect in a
doubling of revenues in the coming three to five
years.
HTI FOR YOU: And how do you see the future together
with HTP Aircraft?
Mister Strauss: I see a growing partnership that
uses common synergies as well as individual core
competencies of the individual companies for safeguarding
the common future success!
