creating future ...
The year 2011 has passed with highs and lows, but
also with many surprises. The turning of the year is
always a welcome opportunity to analyze past and
present, in order to create our future on that basis.
Peter Glatzmeier
Chairman of the Management Board
The year 2011 will go down in the HTI history as the
year of catching-up and recovery. Thanks to the
fruitful cooperation of all involved we have mostly
reached our targets and led the company back to
making profits. A look at our current order situation
gives reason to be happy and makes us expect an
economically good year 2012. Despite these positive
developments however it is only appropriate to start
the New Year with reluctant optimism only. The
macroeconomic environment is unsure, since the
discussions about the debts of many states have
been proven as widely ranged. There has not yet
been found a uniform way by the politicians about a
way out of this European debt crisis. The only consensus
is that it is clear to everybody that something
has to change and that we have to be prepared for
whatever there is to come. We – HTI – prepare ourselves
systematically for our future and have started
the ‘fit for the future’ program, where we ask every
single employee to present interesting suggestions
for the creation of our future. Together we build our
‘bridge to the future’ and develop action plans that
allow us to react flexibly and quickly to possible
changes. Since it is our goal, to always be a reliable
partner for our employees, customers, suppliers and
shareholders.
A substantial part of our strategic planning is also
the question of what the future will look like, how
competition, market, consumers will behave in future
and which technologies will gain importance.
Since companies, that are prepared for changes,
may become pioneers. And in the long run he, who
understands change and creates changes successfully,
will win.
Dear readers, now it is not long until Christmas, here
comes the quiet time that concludes every year,
however stormy it may have been. In this season
spirit I would like to express my appreciation to all
people, who are contributing to our business success.
I do thank …
… our business partners for their collaborative
dialogues and their productive cooperation. Thank
you for the many interesting orders and the appreciation
of our performance and services. It is our
pleasure to be there for you!
… our shareholders for the trust they are investing
in us. Your commitment is a substantial key factor
for us. Especially I do appreciate your loyalty – you
can count on us that we will do everything to reciprocate!
... our employees for their enthusiasm that they
input in our company, since the innovation power of
our company is based on the multitude of ideas,
coming from our passionate employees. I appreciate
the exemplary dedication and the self imposed
demand to be the best they can and to generate
optimal results – always to the benefit of our customers
and their requirements.
In this spirit I would like to wish you and your families
a Merry Christmas, joyful holidays and all the
best and much success – together for 2012!
Enthralling the
audience through
innovative precision
landing
At the internationally leading show for the airport industry in Munich, Hitzinger
introduced their latest innovations in the field of ground power supply of parking
aircrafts. This show is considered as being a very important trend indicator this year.
The show team f.l.t.r:
Christoph Webinger,
Philipp Oberndorfer,
Jochen Philipp, Isabell
Grubauer, Stefan Kühr,
Christoph Kreindl,
Gunnar Korb, Andreas
Wagner
The extent of the importance of the air traffic for
economy and society has not only been portrayed
during the days of the standstill due to the latest
volcanic eruptions but also at the 18th international
trade show for airport equipment, technology,
design and services, which was held in Munich
from October 11 – 14 this year. 606 exhibitors from
34 countries attracted an unbelievable number of
12.600 interested visitors and hence made the
Inter Airport Europe the most important meeting
site for suppliers and buyers of airport equipment
and –services. That led to a very positive total
result.
Heavy rush
Naturally, our energy technology specialist Hitzinger
was there on site, presenting ground-
breaking novelties – in several respects – that
created high interest. The heavy rush during the
four show days were mastered by the 8 people of
Page 4

the Hitzinger booth team: Existing and potential
customers were very interested in the new developments
in the field of ground power supply –
most of all the new D POWER and the latest S
POWER generation. Apart from that, Hitzinger
also managed to successfully conclude orders
from Portground Dresden and Leipzig, Globeground
Romania, Aviation Service Italy, Lufthansa
Technik Frankfurt, SIS Engineering Singapore
as well as for the airport Zurich.
New era in power supply
Existing as well as new customers, who paid a
visit to the Hitzinger booth at the Inter Airport,
were convinced that with the newly developed
models D POWER and S POWER a new era in the
field of ground power supply of parking aircrafts
was kicked-off by Hitzinger.
screen. This technology has never been used by
the competition, due to the high demands. The D
POWER touch screen is fine for temperatures of
-30°C up to +60°C, is absolutely damp resistant
and vandal proof. Another highlight is the feature
of LED signal lamps, perfectly adjusted to the
company design. The control via Hitzinger PowerCon
makes it possible to visualize various status
messages. So, the airport staff can determi-
D POWER – a new
generation of diesel
driven GPUs
Special interest was created by the diesel driven
ground power supply unit D POWER, not least
because it was achieved by the highly motivated
Hitzinger project team to create a completely new
generation of diesel driven GPUs within only six
months. Basis for this was the thought to subject
the existing diesel-GPUs to a reengineering- and
redesign process. The result is quite a sight, since
the D POWER has quite substantially raised the
standards for diesel driven ground power supply.
‘Thanks to the increased level of efficiency of the
equipment with simultaneous cutting of the allover
costs for operation and increased environmental-
and user friendliness Hitzinger will extend
its market- and technological leadership
even further with D POWER‘, says Mr. Werner
Haas about this innovative precision landing of
Hitzinger. ‘The coming months will be used by
Hitzinger to bring the D POWER to serial production
maturity, since already by end of the first
quarter 2012 this equipment shall conquer the
market’, says Mr. Alexander Khinast, commercial
manager of Hitzinger. Proof for the fact, that for
this adventure the correct strategic actions were
taken, are the numerous advantages of the new
D POWER: the diesel motors do not only comply
to the emission regulations „COM 3A/B“ for Europe
and „Tier 4 interim“ for the USA, but they
also save fuel and are quieter due to the decrease
from 1.846 to 1.500 rpm. More than that, the
D POWER is lighter and more corrosion proof than
the predecessor model, since the main material
for base frame and attachment pieces is now
aluminum. Much interest was created by the innovative
control „Hitzinger PowerCon“ with touch
HTI for you | Winter 2011
The S POWER will be an indispensable feature of
the future airport operator, due to its environmental
friendliness, the handy size, the low
weight and the pleasantly low noise emission.
‘The first priorities for the new development of
the S POWER were also economy, through little
energy consumption, operational safety and opne
the status of the D POWER from a distance of
a few hundred meters, without someone having
to be there to check the situation.
Environmentally friendly
The second innovative precision landing was
made by Hitzinger with the new ground power
1
supply unit S POWER, introduced also at the Inter
Airport Europe. After a development phase of 18
months the Hitzinger airport team presented this
absolute innovation in the field of 400 Hz ground
power supply. The main reason for the high importance
of this equipment is the fact, that modern
airports already require ‘static ground power
units’ in their tender documents for new- and
extension projects. The advantages of static power
supply lie in their effectiveness. Beyond that,
they go easy on the environment, since they are
almost emission free. One further specialty of the
S POWER lies in its compact design. In only one
housing the unit creates a performance of up to
180 kVA, all competition models need 2 units. The
S POWER also comes with the so-called POWER
stacks: They are inserts with a performance of 36
kW, which can be used variably, according to
demand with 36 kW, 72 kW and 108 kW. This plug
& play system works similarly to changing a mobile
phone battery. Not least, the S POWER with
touch panel impresses through its high user
friendliness, this enables an intuitive operation.
timal servicing through remote maintenance as
well as maximum flexibility through the modular
design and compatibility of the various components
– and all of this packed in the new Corporate
Design of Hitzinger. The first few units shall
be ready for shipment by June next year.
before becoming managing director of technical
department, research & development, production
and quality assurance.
In order to make these changes visually known,
Hitzinger decided to go for a recreation of their
corporate design. The new logo distinguishes
The D and S POWER also visually
reflect the novelties that happened
inside the company. As of October 01,
2011 the company was renamed to
Hitzinger GmbH – along with a new
technical director - Mr. Werner Haas.
Since the beginning of this year Mr.
In short
What are GPUs?
So-called ground power units are units, supplying
parking aircrafts with power. Depending
on the demand, three types of power
supply equipment are used:
Everywhere and always:
Diesel driven ground power supply units, like
our new D POWER may be used practically
everywhere and will be mainly found at the
apron of the runway, i.e. 0,5 - 2 km away from
the energy infrastructure. They have a performance
of max. 180 kVA
Clean thing:
Static ground power supply units, like our S
POWER are mainly used for the decentralized
ground power supply of parking aircrafts.
Quiet and low in weight the stationary S PO-
WER does not produce any emissions and is
very economic in regards to purchase and
maintenance. The S POWER also has a performance
of max. 180 kVA.
itself through timeless design and it transports
the central visions of the company by expressing
the essential values ‘innovation force, quality and
safety’, symbol for the successful history of Hitzinger
GmbH. The new claim ‘Power. Anytime.
Anywhere‘ speaks for the outstanding solutions
in the field of individual power supply, but also
stresses ‚power‘ and ‚team spirit‘ of our enthusiastic
employees. Blue and so often used red color
were replaced by elegant dark grey and orange in
order to once again stress the autonomy of Hitzinger.
HTI for you | Winter 2011
enquired
Amongst the visitors of the Hitzinger booth was also Mr. Bernhard Scholz,
Senior Manager of Fraport AG, the operating company of Frankfurt airport.
HTI FOR YOU asked Mr. Scholz for an interview.
Bernhard Scholz
HTI FOR YOU: Mister Scholz, the airport Frankfurt is
the largest German civil airport by far and at the
same time one of the world’s most important aviation
hubs. The Fraport AG is the ‘operating company‘
of the airport Frankfurt and – amongst others – responsible
for the equipment purchase of the airport.
How many Hitzinger GPUs are currently in use at
Frankfurt airport?
Mr. Scholz: We exclusively use mobile ground power
units made by Hitzinger. Currently we have 70 Hitzinger
GPUs in use, 68 pieces with 28 Volt/400 Hz and 2
real 28 Volt units.
HTI FOR YOU: Since when has the business cooperation
between you and Hitzinger been existing? How
did it happen?
Mr. Scholz: We have been cooperating with Hitzinger
since the year 2000. At the turn of the millennium we
were not at all happy with the supplier we had at that
time, because the ground power units of the airport
Frankfurt were technically not up to the latest standard.
Consequently, we started a wide-ranged market
analysis, checked various suppliers and then took the
decision for the best supplier – and that was Hitzinger.
HTI FOR YOU: Which aspects are the most crucial
ones when it comes to equipment purchase?
Mr. Scholz: Naturally, the purchase price is always
crucial, but we also focus on the life-cycle-costs, the
fuel consumption, the service range, the technological
quality and the compliance with legal guidelines.
HTI FOR YOU: Why do you prefer GPUs made by Hitzinger?
What distinguishes them from competition
equipment?
Mr. Scholz: I want to stress the exorbitant, almost
incomparable good service provided by Hitzinger. For
the past 11 years we have been working together in
a partnership-based cooperation, which keeps working
sensationally well. The prices of the units are
slightly above market level, but the quality is splendid,
the spare parts service works like a clockwork and
we are also highly satisfied with the delivery times.
HTI FOR YOU: Hitzinger has introduced the D POWER
and S POWER this year at the Inter Airport Europe.
Do you think, with these novelties Hitzinger is well
equipped for the future?
Mr. Scholz: Absolutely! With the D POWER Hitzinger
has reduced the rpm from 1.846 to 1.500 – consequently
this GPU consumes less fuel and additionally
the noise level is reduced. Static ground power supply
units like the S POWER enable an almost emission
free energy supply, which is one of the key features
for them being an indispensable part of modern airports.
HTI FOR YOU: International experts considered this
year’s Inter Airport Europe as an important trend
indicator. How do you rate the further developments
in the field of ground power supply for aircrafts for
the next 10 to 15 years?
Mr. Scholz: The performance of the ground power
units will not increase anymore – but we expect changes
in transformer technology. Here, Hitzinger had
introduced the S POWER at the Inter Airport Europe,
which surprised us very positively. It is characterized
by its modular design, compact shape and allowing
remote diagnosis and –maintenance. What personally
impressed me at the Hitzinger booth were the top
motivated, smart, young Hitzinger engineers who very
enthusiastically presented their products. I haven’t
seen something like that since Apple founder Steve
Jobs presented his iPhone. (laughs)
HTI FOR YOU: What in your expert opinion would you
recommend to Hitzinger for future developments and
product expansions?
Mr. Scholz: To keep the high quality standards as well
as the innovative path that was chosen by Hitzinger
is most important. A quality supplier will always
prevail on the market!
HTI FOR YOU: Let’s have a look at your future: How
does your company want to develop within the next
few years? Where does the airport Frankfurt want to
be in future?
Mr. Scholz: We made the first step with our third runway,
which commenced operation on October 21 this
year. Due to this increase in capacity, parallel aircraft
movements are made possible, and the movements
can be step-by-step increased from currently 83 to
126 per hour. Also the expansion of terminal 1 by gate
‘A-Plus’, which will put into operation in summer 2012,
will be crucial for the airport Frankfurt meeting the
increasing demands of passengers and airlines.
HTI FOR YOU: Will there be a higher demand for
ground power units due to these expansions?
Mr. Scholz: Yes, mainly for static ground power aggregates,
since due to the expansion of the traffic
volume it is our duty to keep the hence connected
burdens for people and the environment as low as
possible. Consequently, our terminals are designed
for them to have static units on site. Currently we have
104 static ground power units in use, through the
extension by gate ‘A-Plus’ we will demand a further
seven units.
HTI FOR YOU: Mister Scholz, thank you very much for
the interview and your visit to our booth!

With lightness
to seven digit
orders
That maybe sounds easy. But behind the pleasant order figures of our
Lightweight Group HTM is a perfect and highly efficient organization, to which
all locations contribute profitably!
The future of mobility lies in its lightness, since
the automotive- and aviation markets demand
extra light, stable components thanks to whose
higher performance with lower energy consumption
is achieved. A constantly growing challenge
to the manufacturers of lightweight parts that is
met by HTM with ‘organizational efficiency’: The
Lightweight Group combines the materials aluminum
and plastics under one organizational roof
and beyond that processes both materials to become
one composite part.
Organization is everything!
In order to get a large slice of the cake in booming
markets, HTM works as a process oriented organization.
This means, that each location in the
sense of ‘best practice’, led by the individual site
manager, executes projects
according to their own, benefit-bearing
rules. Behind this
lies the core idea of ‘lean management’,
i.e. the desire to
‘create values without waste‘,
where all activities are
optimally adjusted to one
another. On one hand for the
Thomas Pleli
benefit of the customer, whose
wishes have to be fulfilled to the max, on the
other hand for the benefit of the company, which
has to work profitably and to continuously increase
competitiveness. Part of this is certainly to
recruit the best people for the job: Since October
01, Mr. Thomas Pleli, who disposes of long-term
experience as manager within the automotive- as
well as the aviation supplying industry as techni-
Gruber & Kaja doubles the performance for lead
frames. In autumn this year the second extension
stage of the top modern, highly efficient machining
center at the location in St. Marien was successfully
concluded. This investment
was made at exactly
the right time to produce
lead frames for another
Audi type, additionally to the
lead frames currently on
order, which results in an
order surplus of 27.5 million
Euros.
Just recently Gruber & Kaja
received an order for the
production for battery
housings from well known
producer of batteries for
electro mobiles, with an order
value of 2 million Euros. The battery will be
used in electric cars and reduce the charging time
for a full battery to 1 – 2 hours. For this no special
charging infrastructure is necessary. The battery
works worldwide with almost every existing power
supply.
1
One further new order in the value of 3 million
Euros was placed by MAN Truck & Bus AG. Starting
with 2013, Gruber & Kaja will produce flashlight
supports for various MAN truck series. With
these components our aluminum die cast specialist
makes the first step towards structure components.
HTP – successful on land ...
The Audi projects allow our division Automotive
the entry in the motor section. For the S3 and the
R8 it will produce the design covers, worth 2.4
million Euros. Also BMW relies on our technological
competency – HTP will produce the rod exit
flaps for the convertible of the BMW 3 series. The
order value is 2.6 million Euros. Wabco placed an
order for the production of valve bodies, worth 2.8
million Euros. This valve body consists of 3 components
and is used for control of the braking
system in commercial trucks. For the Mercedes
SL loudspeaker grilles worth 1.3 million Euros are
being produced. More than that, our division Automotive
managed to enter the seat market. It was
awarded to produce the pressure tank for Daimler,
worth almost a million Euros. This pressure container
serves the pneumatic comfort seat adjustment.
... and in the air …
Successful contract conclusions are also reported
on by our Aviation Lightweight Group, which is
looking back on a long-term, successful cooperation
with FACC, which is now being extended
and enhanced. Hence, our division Aircraft produces
the windows in the doors and the door handles
for the Airbus A350 as well as the corner supports
for the luggage compartment of the Airbus
A380. More than that, our lightweight specialists
will supply handrails and windows for the both
luxurious business jets Legacy 450 and Legacy
500. The interior of these new developments of
the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer shall
provide the customers with unsurpassed comfort
and sophisticated design. In cooperation with
FACC HTP Aircraft now also wants to conquer the
Asian market. For the Chinese regional jet Comac
ARJ21 (ARJ21 stands for ‘Advanced Regional Jet
for the 21st Century’) our division Aircraft produces
divisions and cover rails for luggage compartments.
The ARJ21 is the first regional jet that was
fully developed and manufactured in China. With
these parts HTP is given the opportunity to participate
in the massively increasing passenger
numbers and hence the booming sales markets
in the Far East. The total value of these new orders
in the Aviation division is around 6 million Euros.
HTI FOR YOU: Mister Strauss, FACC is known as one
of the worldwide leading companies in the development
and production of fiber composites and –
systems for the aviation industry. Our division Aircraft
meanwhile belongs to your Top-3 suppliers.
What was the crucial criterion for FACC to award
us with the ‘Excellent Supplier Award’ in bronze?
Mister Strauss: Besides first-class delivery punctuality
and high product quality mainly the flexibility
in the everyday cooperation as well as the proven
will for further development and renewal of existing
structures were crucial.
HTI FOR YOU: Which areas are covered by this cooperation?
Mister Strauss: The cooperation includes co-operative
development, coordinated design activities
and the production towards organization and execution
of the related logistics, which safeguards
just-in-time receipt at FACC.
HTI FOR YOU: To which extent is our division Aircraft
involved in the further development of your
company/your products?
Mister Strauss: Above-average performance of our
suppliers is of significant importance for the future
success of FACC. Due to the cooperative input of
innovations and ideas HTP Aircraft supports us with
the further development of our own products and
hence substantially contributes towards the
strengthening of the market position of FACC.
HTI FOR YOU: Just recently you have ordered component
parts for the Legacy 450/500 by Embraer
and for the A350 XWB. What were your reasons for
choosing us for the realization of these projects?
Mister Strauss: Apart from the technical expertise
mainly the close location, flexibility and reliability
of HTP which is essential for such time-critical
development projects.
HTI FOR YOU: In the public eye flying is considered
as harmful for the environment. Also the noise
issues are often the center of public discussions.
How do you think the aircraft manufacturers and
their suppliers can contribute to a conscious and
respectful way of treating the environment?
Mister Strauss: The conscious and preserving
dealing with the environment and its natural resources
is a substantial obligation and challenge for the
aircraft manufacturers and their suppliers. Already
today the weight is the core issue for product developments,
since this is in direct connection with fuel
consumption and hence the consequent emissions.
HTI FOR YOU asked Mister Manuel Strauss, purchase manager
‘Interior’ of FACC for an interview and talked to him about partnership,
strengthening of the competitive position, the contribution of the
aircraft manufacturers towards the environment as well as the
air traffic of the future.
Synergies from composite materials as well as
other lightweight materials like plastics and aluminum
hence not only allow the production of innovative
products, but also portray a significant step for
preserving our natural habitat. Also regarding the
above mentioned noise issues, exactly the use of
composites and other lightweight materials allow
the development of noise-reduced engine parts and
aircraft components, like they are being produced
by FACC.
HTI FOR YOU: The importance
of flying for economy and society
were once again brought
to our attention during the
days of the standstill due to
the volcanic eruptions. How
do you see the development
of the aviation industry resp.
the development of your company
within the next three
years?
Manuel Strauss
Mister Strauss: The civil aviation
market develops dynamically despite the latest
turbulences in the economic environment, which is
influenced by the crisis of the financial system in
Europe and the consequent slowdown of the global
economic growth. The aircraft manufacturers still
record a high demand in the aviation business and
hence anticipate that the high order level will safeguard
the growth for the coming years, which – from
today’s point of view – for FACC will reflect in a
doubling of revenues in the coming three to five
years.
HTI FOR YOU: And how do you see the future together
with HTP Aircraft?
Mister Strauss: I see a growing partnership that
uses common synergies as well as individual core
competencies of the individual companies for safeguarding
the common future success!
HTI FOR YOU: Mister Strauss, I do thank you for the
interview!
Land of the hammers –
glorious future!
1
Lately a lot was discussed about the Austrian National Anthem – mostly
about how the situation really is for the sons and daughters of our country.
There is no doubt however about the fact that Austria is the land of
the hammers. Towards this fact, BBG pays its contribution and with its
latest generation of pneumatic hammers makes sure it stays that way.
Quiet, low in vibration and from now on also light in weight the new
BBG hammer, called BH9, masters all challenges!
1 The B22 is the most
widely sold BBG
hammer: It is quiet
and extremly high in
performance
No other manufacturer of pneumatic
hammers has introduced as
many milestone innovations to the
market during the past 25 years
as BBG. Reason enough for BBG
to develop a completely new
hammer, not only sensationally
efficient and light, but also covering
the whole demand of the
market. Hence, the new BH9
replaces even three predecessor
models. It comes in modular
design, low in vibration
and sound insulated and is
produced according to the ATEX regulations, enabling
application in potentially explosive environment.
Another novelty: Until now no water rinsed
units were available, which are that light, flexible
and can be used for various applications whilst at
the same time belonging to the quietest of their
type. With this the new hammer, which will be
available on the market starting second quarter
2012, closes a market gap.
From pioneer to market leader
Since 1919 BBG in Kapfenberg has produced more
than 1.3 million pneumatic hammers, which made
Page 12

work in the construction industry a lot easier. The
long-term experience and the know-how leadership
contributed to the fact, that BBG today is the
market leader for pneumatic hammers in Europe.
With the further development of the units BBG
mainly follows one goal, namely that the strain for
to the lungs by breathing. In all other areas, like
facade construction or natural stone quarrying,
the air-purged version is used. Prior to use the
hammer can be manually controlled, installed at
a support gear or integrated into a holder. This
also allows part- or fully automatic drilling. Since
also the hammer mechanism
was further developed,
2
the BH9 is especially longlasting,
low in maintenance
and high in performance.
New technology,
new markets
BBG does not only stride on
new paths but also sets itself
big goals: Currently the
pneumatic hammer producer
is working intensively on
conquering the Russian
market. Therefore it is necessary,
to build its own net
3
the operator is kept as low as possible through
quieter, lighter and more ergonomic hammers.
Regular tests of an Austrian Sound Testing Institute
are passed by the BBG hammers with flying
colors.
The BH9 – universal genius
The ground-breaking novelty of the hammer,
made by BBG, available in various designs, lies
mainly in its weight. Depending on the design, the
BH9 hammer weighs between 11 and 15 kgs –
normally such hammers weigh 18 kilos at least.
The flexible hammer is adjusted to meet the demands
of the individual operation. Whether it is
used within the construction industry or in quarries,
it is available in vibration-low or static design.
The first is best used for drilling works downwards
at long life-cycle, the static type enables drilling
works in all directions. The water rinsed type can
be used everywhere, where breathing of quartzcontaining
dust bears the danger of a silicosis
sickness or other respiratory defects, which is
mainly the case with deep-shaft mining. The dust
is bound by the water can and cannot be inhaled
of traders and also support the OEM partners of
BBG with their marketing strategy. Consequently,
BBG holds training days in order to bring their
partners up to speed when it comes to the latest
technology.
OMNIA extends
its lead
OMNIA vacuum
aggregate
In more than one way: Whereas the new vacuum aggregate of the OMNIA line
keeps convincing more and more customers, the all-in-one extrusion line
itself conquers more and more markets.
In the last editions we already published in-depth
reports on the new extrusion line OMNIA. Additionally,
High Tech Extrusion has now developed a
stand-alone vacuum aggregate, with which OMNIA
calibration tables can be retrofitted. In short, the
vacuum system, integrated in the OMNIA calibration
table, is now available in a stand-alone version.
Economic and safe
Fitting predecessor models as well as competition
models, the new system gets impressive results
in the field of energy savings. With its frequency
controlled pumps, three vacuum- and two
water pumps, the vacuum aggregate - in comparison
with conventional calibrating tables – can
save 80% in energy and water. The use of more
pumps beyond that guarantees a high level of
production safety. As a result of the modular design
it is also possible to adjust the performance
exactly to meet the customer’s demands. During
test operation, the OMNIA vacuum aggregate
impressed mainly by the fact that it fits all existing
tools. Because of its lean design it can easily be
placed between the lines.
Success: Large and small alike
While the OMNIA vacuum aggregate has already
convinced existing customers, OMNIA itself conquers
more and more markets. Mr. Xaver Gruber,
Managing Director of High Tech Extrusion, is pleased
about this positive development: ‘The positive
feedback of our customers confirms to us,
that with OMNIA we have started a technological
progress in the extrusion industry. Now we will
continue to further extend our position by offering
our innovative solutions. Our current order level
already utilizes our capacity far into the year
2012.” During the past weeks orders with a total
volume of around 18 million Euro were received.
Hence, the company will ship extrusion lines for
the production of PVC window profiles and PVC
pipes to Poland, India, to the Ukraine and to the
Middle East, to name just a few.
Page 14

HTI FOR YOU: Mister Sagol, congratulations! Your
company has celebrated its 5th anniversary! During
this time it has become the largest producer of PVC
profile systems in the Ukraine. How did this successful
company development come together?
Mister Sagol: A strategic market analysis for evaluation
of the Ukrainian market was a most valuable
basis for the foundation of our company. Certainly,
special attention was paid to the future market development.
It gave us a very clear picture of the attractiveness
of the Ukrainian and Russian market
and thus supported us in developing products that
fulfill the demands of these markets. This, combined
with the highest requirements towards technology
and quality were the key success factors.
HTI FOR YOU: Since when have you been cooperating
with High Tech Extrusion? What was the reason for
starting this cooperation?
Mister Sagol: Our cooperation has been lasting for
already four years. It started, because High Tech
Extrusion met our individual demands with high
technological know-how. By this, we were able to
cooperatively develop innovative solutions for our
customers.
HTI FOR YOU: To which extent was High Tech Extrusion
involved in the development of your company
and your products?
Mister Sagol: High Tech Extrusion delivered our
extruders and tools and hence the technology that
played a crucial role in the successful development
of our company.
HTI FOR YOU: In which way is High Tech Extrusion
different from their competition?
Mister Sagol: High Tech Extrusion is customer minded
to the highest extent, taking customer’s demands
One for all!
The advantages of the OMNIA extrusion line are
obvious: In contrast to common extrusion equipment,
with all the components coming from different
sources, OMNIA is the ALLinONE solution.
One complete equipment with all of its components
made by High Tech Extrusion. The production
processes run more efficiently and smoothly
due to the perfect combination of all components.
Test results show, that not only the production
costs can be reduced but that a lot of energy can
also be saved by using single components of the
OMNIA extrusion line.
Also Mr. Hasan Sagol, technical director of Miroplast, was convinced
by the savings in energy that have been made possible by
OMNIA. HTI FOR YOU asked Mr. Sagol for an interview.
into account and being able to technologically realize
these demands. Hence, with our extrusion lines, we
are able to create exactly those products, which we
need for our target markets.
HTI FOR YOU: Just recently you have ordered an
OMNIA model from High Tech Extrusion. Originally
you wanted to order the predecessor model – what
made you order the latest model?
Mister Sagol: The main reason was the savings in
energy, made possible by OMNIA. By this we were
able to significantly cut our own production costs.
Also the ergonomics have convinced us – OMNIA is
easier to operate than common extrusion equipment.
Hence, we are in the position, to run a smooth and
clean production process.
HTI FOR YOU: Which are the benefits of OMNIA to
your company, your products and the end user?
Mister Sagol: The just mentioned savings in energy
consumption is a major benefit for us. Now we can
produce more cost efficiently, consequently we are
more competitive in our target markets and additionally
we are ready for expansion in new markets.
HTI FOR YOU: Being an expert in the field of PVC
profile extrusion – what would be your recommendations
to High Tech Extrusion in regards to future
developments of extrusion equipment?
Mister Sagol: We would desire extrusion equipment
with a higher grade of automation. Additionally,
extrusion equipment should become more and
more flexible, so that during material- or tool
change fewer changes in parameters and tuning
works were necessary.
HTI FOR YOU: How do you estimate the development
of your market resp. the development
of your company for the next three years?
Mister Sagol: We anticipate that the market will
keep on growing. We expect a market growth of
around 20% per year, 35% growth in Russia for
the next three years and approx. 10% growth in
the Ukraine.
HTI FOR YOU: Mister Sagol, thank you very
much for this interview and we wish you lots of
joy with your new OMNIA!
enquired
Unity in
diversity
What sounds like a contradiction at first was drive and motivation for HTI to unify
their IT whilst taking into account the diversities and characteristics that distinguish
each individual operative unit from the other. What came after that? Projects,
which led to optimal IT standards throughout the whole Group.
As a supplier of innovative high tech products HTI
works with the latest technical production standards.
In order to secure smooth processes a
first-class, group-wide IT environment is of essence
– this of course besides the excellent knowhow
of the employees. Accordingly, HTI created
their IT towards economical and service optimal
aspects. Target was to standardize hard- and
software and to centralize critical IT services in
one highly secure data center.
Standardization of
hard- and software
Computers, printers, mobile phones or fax machines
– HTI from now on will only procure them
from one producer.
‘The sign of the
times is cost optimization’,
stresses
HTI-CFO Nikolaus
Kretz and is pleased
‘that HTI has gained
a substantial cost
advantage through
the large quantities’.
During the producer’s
selection
process special focus
was set on quality,
safety and service.
For all equip-
Nikolaus Kretz
Page 16

ment service contracts were concluded that foresee
all necessary repairs to be carried out
within 24 hours. But also individual demands are
not neglected: In case a HTI employee for example
needs a computer he may choose from six
different, pre-configured models. Since all six
models come from the same manufacturer, still
a uniform basis in the computer world of HTI is
safeguarded.
It is also the target for the IT projects to unify
critical server systems like SAP and email to one
valid level. The process of the group-wide implementation
of the ERP system SAP was a major
step. ‘With this business software we can optimally
control all processes of the company, like
sales, logistics, production, inventory,
controlling and accounting’
comments HTI-CFO Nikolaus
Kretz on the strategic step
that ‘guarantees a smooth, location-
and time independent cooperation
of our employees, customers
and partners’. The first
step in the group-wide implementation
process of SAP was
made by the Upper Austrian locations
St. Marien and Linz. Both
locations successfully started on
1
SAP in the first quarter 2010, with
them being the basis for all
further SAP implementations. At the beginning
of this year also our location in Korneuburg started
with SAP, in the second and third quarter also
the locations Fohnsdorf, Neudörfl and Slovakia
went live. Currently in project phase are the units
in Salzgitter (Germany), Micheldorf and Kapfenberg,
who will introduce SAP in the year 2012.
All employees, which were part of the successful
SAP implementation know about the additional
strains and sacrifices during this phase. Our
Group-IT-manager Johann Ebner wants to use
this opportunity to thank all project managers,
key-users and users for their constructive cooperation
and their relentless dedication, since ‘in all
these projects I have met employees and people
who have creatively supported and implemented
the changes in the system’ says Mr. Ebner.
ter of Telekom Austria in Vienna. Currently HTI is
working on a uniform email platform. Step by step
also the email service of the whole company will
be consolidated on a Telekom Austria server. The
beginning was made recently by our location in
Kapfenberg, until the end of the first quarter 2012
also this project shall be finished throughout the
Group. Both the SAP operation- as well as the
new email service foresees a 24x7 service (24
hours a day, 7 days a week) through Telekom
Austria. ‘For us it was important that we receive
everything from one hand in first-class quality.
Therefore we decided to go for Telekom Austria
as IT partner’, says Johann Ebner. ‘Both the relocation
of our SAP basis operation to the Telekom
Austria data center as well as the relocation
of the email services to a Telekom Austria
server worked without any hiccups.
Stage clear for HTI
The roadshow series, held by Börse Express and Aktienforum just recently stopped
over in Upper Austria and Styria. HTI-CEO Peter Glatzmeier participated in both
shows, in order to introduce our company to an interested investor audience.
1
2
during his presentation
3 Interested investor
audience
On October 25, for the first time ever, the event
was held outside an Austrian provincial capital city
– in Micheldorf in Upper Austria. Co-organizer of
this ‘Top of Upper Austria’ roadshow was Sparkasse
Kremstal-Pyhrn. Almost 25 years ago, the
Sparkassen Investment Club (SIC) was founded
under the patronage of Sparkasse Kremstal-Pyhrn.
On November 09 the show moved to Graz/
Raaba, where the roadshow event by Börse Express
and Aktienforum stopped for the fourth time
already. Clearly more than 350 guests visited both
roadhows. Apart from HTI also AMAG, Andritz,
AT&S, BWT, Lenzing, Polytec and Sanochemia
gave presentations about their companies.
’We produce and develop products and services,
that you come across every single day of the week,
whether knowingly or unknowingly, that you come
from A to B with, switch on the light at home resp.
be supplied with electricity, says Peter Glatzmeier
in this introduction about HTI High Tech Industries
AG. The company is active in the fields of
mobility, infrastructure and energy supply. ‘To us
the term value addition means real work. We want
to offer value addition to Austria, but also to the
rest of the world, in a way that it is sustainable
and hence can be also created in Austria’. Conse-
Page 18

quently HTI is ‘an Austrian company’, of the 17
locations 8 are in Austria. 1.200 of the total 1.500
members of staff are employed in Austria. The
company is also present in Asia. There, HTI for
example cooperates with the world’s largest window
profile producer Conch, who had purchased
all of his extrusion equipment for the production
of window profiles from HTI. Also very pleasant is
the fact, that China imposes a change in the existing
law, requiring all future new buildings to be
fitted with plastic windows. HTI generates approximately
80% of the revenues outside of Austria,
half of those in China, India, South America and
Russia. ‘Real growth is currently only happening
in these countries. Consequently, it is very important
to be there on site’, says Glatzmeier. And of
course also the costs play an important role.
3 Roadshow-Flyer:
Top of Upper Austria
The world gets lighter
On which technologies is HTI now focusing? The
segment Lightweight Construction for example
focuses in the field of mobility. ‘We try to make
products, produced of heavy materials, simply
lighter’, explains Glatzmeier the ‘industrial weightwatching
process’. This mainly in the field of mobility,
where weight is a decisive factor, especially
in regards to environmental protection, and - being
a specialty of HTI - both together. An example for
that is a part of the BMW gear. This part was made
by 60% lighter, so that with the annual mileage of
20.000 kilometers 5 liter fuel can be saved per
vehicle. For demonstration: A calculation based on
the number of vehicles and the average annual
mileage, more than a million liters of fuel are being
saved‘. But HTI is not only available on the ground;
the company is also high above the clouds in the
air: For example, the windows of the Airbus top
model, the A380, are made by HTI. But we are not
only part of the A380: ‘Who is travelling with Airbus
always has HTI on board’, says Glatzmeier.
One further technology is engineering: ‘From
product idea to sales – everything in one hand’
describes Glatzmeier the process of finding USPs
and to accompany the customer through the whole
value added process. Great success is expected
by the CEO from the Joint Venture with the Chinese
company Conch, which is currently being extended.
More than that, HTI is the market leader
for pneumatic hammers in Europe, because ‘our
hammers are especially quiet and low in vibration‘,
says Glatzmeier. 70% of all relevant furnaces
worldwide are equipped with machines from HTI,
so that the pig iron can be extracted from the
furnace at all.
3
In the energy sector HTI offers alternators for
small and mid-sized hydro power plants and is
also active in the field of emergency power aggregates.
Hence, the company also has got uninterruptable
energy supply systems in their product
range that are mainly used in hospitals and data
centers in order to safeguard operation of livepreserving
machines in intensive medicine and for
sensitive computers.
Highest order
situation in history
‘We have seen trying times but they have showed
us, that the Austrian banks can show a great
amount of responsibility’ says Peter Glatzmeier,
looking back on the past. In 2008 practically 50%
of revenues were lost literally overnight. ‘We have
left this phase and are much stronger today’ says
the CEO about the year 2011, which will be much
better compared to 2010. ‘If you ask me today,
what 2012 will be like, then I may say that right
now we have the highest order situation in the
history of our company. But please do not forget,
that a financial crisis may also impact the real
economy if we all keep talking ourselves in a crisis.
Economy and growth depend on how we create
our future in our heads’, says Glatzmeier. Here
also the famous quote of Socrates comes to mind
‘Who believes to be has ceased to come to be‘!
HTI-Award 2011
Did you know that it is possible to tap beer from pneumatic
hammers, to create very glamorous Christmas decorations
or that ground power units for aircrafts are really sticky sweet?
Proof for that is given by the highly creative employees of the
HTI Group. Read below to find out …
1
Remember: in the previous edition we have once
again started a ‘creative call’. This time it was
about trying yourself in creative arts. The entries
that have reached us since then exceed even our
most daring expectations! The large pool of ideas
of our creative staff reaches from hammers that
‘just only save the world’ via artistic abstract interpretations
of our common future until to playful
arrangements made of dummy parts or sticky
sweet gingerbread.
Now it is the job of an artistic expert jury to select
the three winning entries which we will present in
the March edition of our newsletter. Many thanks
to all the talented participants for their outstanding
contributions!
The bull and the paving breaker! (1)
The artist Martin Biermann, member of the sales
department of BBG, was inspired by the ‘Lady in
Black’ – that is the name of the BBG paving breaker:
He combined symbolic values of technical
products – beauty, force, endurance,... – with a
visual association he had when he saw the ‘Lady
in Black’ for the first time: the head of a bull.
Consequently a Black Lady became the Black Bull,
consisting of real parts of a paving breaker with an
abstract bull’s head, eternalized in steel sheet and
pipe. HTI FOR YOU congratulates to this well done
sculpture!
Bring on the next party … (2)
… in short: ‘O’zapft is!‘ Martin Biermann from the
BBG sales department was so inspired that he
submitted a second masterpiece: The BBG hammer-beer-tap.
According to the artist this creation
was greeted with a ‘very positive response‘ in
the production department – a fact that HTI FOR
YOU can very much understand! It was Mr. Franz
Neubauer, who realized this practical work of art
in expert manner. The Hammer-beer-tap shall
also be used at trade shows as an original eye
catcher. We congratulate and look forward to the
first beer!
The born rescuer! (3)
A nightmare: A celestial body appears in our solar
system, only to destroy our universe. But the BBG
pneumatic hammer of the future comes to the
rescue. It annihilates the evil and saves the world.
The artist, Mr. Manfred Schischeg, head of production
with BBG, with this science fiction version
called ‘BBG rocks the universe‘ visualizes constellations
of the possible – he combines wood
(frame), stainless steel and colors on canvas. The
artist wants to stress the importance of constant
innovation. Congratulations to this masterpiece!
Simply sweet! (4)
The proof, that art actually tastes nice, was demonstrated
by the Hitzinger department ‘airport
equipment’: With their GPU gingerbread – a GPU
is a unit, supplying parking aircrafts with power
– they have already convinced the visitors of the
Hitzinger booth at the Inter Airport Europe.
The cookie shaper for these sweet GPUs was produced
by the apprentice-trainer Mr. Rudolf Hemetsberger.
Testing was done in cooperation with
his wife at home, to check whether that thing
‘really works’. In our opinion it is a definite yes! –
That thing really works!
5
Oh dummy tree! (5)
‘… how colorful have we created you to be‘, that’s
what HTP Electronic apprentices Markus Dimpfl
and Max Eder (4th and 2nd apprentice year) will
sing under the Christmas tree. Both apprentices
created a Christmas tree from waste and start-up
ware of the dummy production, which stands the
test with every real Christmas tree. Head of production,
Rudolf Mayer, supported them throughout
this project. Markus and Max also send a Christmas
wish with their ELT-tree: ‘Dear Father Christmas,
please make us produce enough dummies
for all the children in the world!‘ No one shall ever
speak badly again about today’s youth! Sincere
congratulations to this work of art!
Art connects people (6)
The slogan ‘together to the future’ was portrayed
literally by the only female contestant of this award
– Mrs. Andrea Hofmann from the accounting department
of High Tech Extrusion. Very colorful and
arty Mrs. Hofmann portrays in her picture se-
quence, consisting of BBG and Extrusion as well
as Hitzinger and Extrusion, her gratitude to both
companies. We salute these wonderful, arty pictures.
