What Leadership Courses<br />

are required?<br />

LDR 1100: Introduction to Leadership (3 hrs)<br />

LDR 2200: Tools of Leadership (3 hrs)<br />

LDR 3300: Leadership Theory (3 hrs)<br />

LDR 4400: Chancellor’s Capstone Leadership<br />

Seminar (3 hrs)<br />

In the first three courses, students (1) learn the value<br />

of service, ethics, listening and group dynamics; (2)<br />

master presentational, delegation, media relations<br />

and personal management skills; and (3) discover how<br />

practical leadership theory applies to them as leaders.<br />

These courses build toward the Capstone Leadership<br />

Seminar.<br />

The Capstone Seminar is co-taught by the Chancellor<br />

and the Director of the Institute for Leadership<br />

Development and features instruction by them as<br />

well as presentations by such individuals as CEO’s of<br />

the Retirement Systems of Alabama, ALFA Insurance,<br />

COVAN World-Wide Moving, the founder of an 80 person<br />

nationally known law firm, Commanding General<br />

Officers, elected officials, and officials of Leadership<br />

Montgomery. Students also receive etiquette training<br />

and participate in a day-long field trip to state governmental<br />

and corporate offices.<br />

toward the 18 hour minor?<br />

LDR 3333: Great Leaders (3 hrs)<br />

LDR 4403: Issues in Contemporary Leadership (1 hr)<br />

May be repeated multiple times with different issues—<br />

including political or social leaders, and leaders from<br />

the Old Testament, Prophets, and New Testament.<br />

LDR 4444: Leadership Internship (3-6 hrs)<br />

LDR 4450: Leadership Service Learning (1-6 hrs)<br />

LDR 4493-4494: Independent Study (1-3 hrs)<br />
