next year and be moved on to the<br />

new “winner” or will Houston retain<br />

the trophy?<br />

I.C. Branch of the Year for<br />

<strong>Mainfreight</strong> was San Francisco, run<br />

by a great team of leaders.<br />

Runner-up in the I.C. branch was<br />

Tampa – it was a close call.<br />

Customer Service Award<br />

<strong>Mainfreight</strong> takes customer service<br />

seriously so this year we put a<br />

“Customer Service Award” in place.<br />

Every month all branches vote a<br />

team member from another branch<br />

who has shown superb customer<br />

service. This is an award voted on<br />

by your peers and nominees can be<br />

a branch manager, international<br />

and domestic operations, customer<br />

service, warehousing, IT, and<br />

accounting team members.<br />

Congratulations to Greg Sutton<br />

from our <strong>Mainfreight</strong> Service Center<br />

who was very surprised when we<br />

flew him in from Phoenix, Arizona<br />

to receive his reward.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Pickle Award<br />

<strong>The</strong> Pickle award was another new<br />

award for <strong>Mainfreight</strong> USA.<br />

Michael Benjamin our Chicago<br />

branch manager was the overall<br />

winner out of seven nominees.<br />

Michael went above and beyond<br />

the call of duty. Our south bound<br />

truck from Toronto got turned back<br />

by US Customs on a Sunday night<br />

which meant there was no truck in<br />

Chicago on Monday morning as<br />

scheduled to load our 50,000 lbs.<br />

Our partner Same Day dispatched<br />

another truck but that didn’t show<br />

up until 11:00pm on Monday night.<br />

Michael elected to stay and load<br />

the truck with the driver until<br />

4.00am in the morning when the<br />

driver started back to Toronto,<br />

Canada.<br />

Our customers had no idea what<br />

happened and we are happy to<br />

say service expectations were met.<br />

All other nominees are posted on<br />

Connect USA.<br />

Sales Person of the Year<br />

<strong>The</strong> 2010 fiscal year was our first<br />

time to recognize the <strong>Mainfreight</strong><br />

USA Sales Person of the Year. We<br />

did not base the recognition solely<br />

on revenue, but focused more on<br />

profit and a series of KPI<br />

benchmarks. Each month we<br />

calculated the scores and secured<br />

specific feedback from branch<br />

managers.<br />

<strong>The</strong> results were very close and we<br />

are proud of all the top finishers. In<br />

the end, there was a clear winner<br />

– Silvia Mueller-Thompson in Los<br />

Angeles. We also want to<br />

congratulate Peter Burke, Tom<br />

Zalesky, and Scott Eranger for<br />

breaking the $1 million mark!!<br />
