BUILDING HISTORY:
Built for Southwestern Telegraph & Telephone Company in 1912. Sometime after
1938, when the telephone company moved to the bluff, the building was renovated
for the Frank Sparks Insurance Co.
After Sparks moved out, it was occupied by
Celanese and in 1968 by the city’s tax office.
It was restored in 1997 for the Brunkenhoefer law firm. A plaque by the front door
gives the building’s history. It is said to be the first structure in town built
expressly as a telephone building and the city’s first fireproof building.
