Sample Portfolio Entry

Your portfolio should include:
1. A wide variety of samples and examples of
your work both for and related to this class.
2. Reflection on each piece or group of
artifacts that you have chosen to include.

Reflection:
I created this design after learning about
various design trends in the class. The trends I
included are:
1. Not showing the full apple.
2. Increased leading between the lines of type.
3. A drop cap letter to begin the story
4. Using intentionally designed white space to
frame the page.
5. Using drop shadow and screened text as
decoration at the same time as they serve a
function.
I like how it turned out. People seemed to like
the use of the shadow behind the text to pull
the apple and text together. The increased
leading works well, and the headline turned
out exactly as I wanted it to.
People noticed very quickly that I should have
used two quotation marks on the top, and
although I don’t really agree, I would probably

do that next time, just because it wouldn’t
stand out so much.
It was also pointed out that the spacing
between the apple and the text is not
consistent, and gets wider on the bottom.
Overall, this shows how I’m practicing putting
new trends into practice.
