REWIRE - PLATINUM DWBI Soon after, another customer in the banking and financial services industry needed to create reports for its business leaders. Their current reports were not reaching decision-makers on-time because data consolidation was taking too long. It was a manually intensive process, involving lots of copy/pasting between different reports and spreadsheets. The process of creating the final presentation took almost 10 days -- the customer clearly needed help. Platinum Architecture The team brainstormed for right solutions, discussing various APIs to consolidate data and another set of APIs to connect to the database and create presentations on the fly. This exercise not only helped solve the customer’s problem, but it also triggered a train of new ideas and usage scenarios. was some way to turn 100 people with ordinary SQL skills into Teradata experts. This was the genesis of the Platinum feature that enables people with little or no Teradata background to use their common database skills in complex data warehousing projects that involve Teradata migrations. With this feature, <strong>Cognizant</strong> was able to develop a workbench for developers that could ensure throughput, independent of skill levels and project size. This tool helped jumpstart the project, increase productivity and deliver services at a lower price point. All these efforts had been well worth it as these features have been integrated into Platinum. With Platinum, the Data Warehouse Practice now had a platform it could use to help more clients quickly complete their complex DWBI projects, at a cost that worked for both the customers and <strong>Cognizant</strong>. Since then, Platinum has received much recognition: • From Gartner as a “one-of-a-kind” DWBI platform. • From Teradata for leadership in enterprise data warehousing as a best-in-class, innovative solution. • From TDWI in the category of Best Practices in Enterprise Data Warehousing. 79
