Active Living - Weight Training<br />

This course will start with a review of basic weight training<br />

exercises to enable students to plan, manage and practice<br />

personalized programs according to their own objectives<br />

and abilities. Each student will keep a record of his/her<br />

workouts so that progress can be monitored.<br />

2 hours/week Units: 1.00<br />

Prerequisite: 109-101 and 109-102<br />

Active Living - Waterfront Activities -<br />

Students will meet once during the first week of the<br />

semester to plan and design their own personal fitness<br />

program. They will then follow this personal program<br />

throughout the winter semester and then participate in 3<br />

compulsory day trips at the end of May at the Olympic<br />

Basin, Parc national des Iles-de-Boucherville and Parc de<br />

la rivière des Mille-Iles. The aim of this course is to<br />

explore the possibilities of developing and maintaining<br />

an active lifestyle through water-related activities such as<br />

canoeing, kayaking, and dragon boating. There is an<br />

obligatory transportation and equipment rental fee<br />

associated with this course.<br />

Absolute Prerequisite:<br />

Student must be comfortable in the water.<br />

Active Living - Fit for Life<br />

Students will set goals based on their present lifestyle<br />

and use the components of fitness to develop and<br />

manage a workout regime to meet their specific needs<br />

and interests, and to pursue an active lifestyle on a<br />

recreational or competitive basis. Regular evaluation is<br />

encouraged to make necessary adjustments.<br />

2 hours/week Units: 1.00<br />

Prerequisite: 109-101 and 109-102<br />

Active Living - Tennis<br />

The student will learn how to plan, practice and manage<br />

a tennis program appropriate for their level. This will be<br />

done with a health perspective in mind. There is an<br />

obligatory transportation fee associated with this course.<br />

Equipment will be provided.<br />

2 hours/week Units: 1.00<br />

Prerequisite: 109-101 and 109-102<br />

109-103-MQ<br />

Active Living - Volleyball<br />

In this course volleyball skills and theory will be covered.<br />

The student will learn how to improve his/her skills and<br />

conditioning to be able to continue this activity on a<br />

recreational basis. The student will help to plan, manage<br />

and practice a program specific to their needs and<br />

interests.<br />

2 hours/week Units: 1.00<br />

Prerequisite: 109-101 and 109-102<br />

Active Living - Soccer<br />

The student will learn how to improve his/her soccer<br />

skills to be able to continue this sport on a recreational<br />

basis, thus contribute to a healthy lifestyle. The student<br />

will also help to plan, manage and practice a program<br />

specific to their needs and interests.<br />
