Fitness & Wellness (Sports Conditioning)<br />
This course will emphasize fitness and wellness; students<br />
will achieve the objectives by training mostly the<br />
secondary components of fitness (speed, agility,<br />
quickness). Joint and core stability, static and dynamic<br />
balance, and flexibility will also be explored. This course<br />
would interest those interested in improving their<br />
athletic performance.<br />

Fitness & Wellness (Pilates)<br />
Pilates is a method of muscular conditioning that<br />
emphasizes core strength, body awareness, proper<br />
alignment and a balanced flow of movement. Performed<br />
on a mat, using body weight and light resistance<br />
exercises, this class will give students the opportunity to<br />
engage in a Pilates fitness regime designed to<br />
complement cardiovascular exercise, sport conditioning<br />
and a healthy lifestyle.<br />

Fitness & Wellness (Group Fitness)<br />
Participation activities will include cardio-boxing, step<br />
workouts, hi & low impact aerobics, power yoga as well<br />
as types of circuit and interval training. Some muscle<br />
conditioning and stretching techniques will also be<br />
emphasized.<br />

Fitness & Wellness (Total Body Conditioning)<br />
Students will do various types of conditioning and resistance<br />
training exercises to improve all aspects of their physical<br />
fitness.<br />

Fitness & Wellness (Winter Activities Intensive)<br />
Objectives of this course will be met through online<br />
assignments, 1 meeting at the college and two<br />
compulsory one-day trips to Mt. St-Bruno/Mt Royal and<br />
Mt. St-Hilaire/Mt Orford either cross country skiing<br />
and/or snowshoeing.<br />

109-101-MQ Fitness & Wellness (Hiking Activities<br />
Intensive)<br />
Objectives of this course will be met through online<br />
assignments, 1st meeting at the college and two<br />
compulsory one-day hiking trips to Mt. St-Bruno/Mt<br />
Royal and Mt. St-Hilaire/Mt Orford. There is an<br />
obligatory transportation and lift ticket fee associated<br />
with this course.<br />

Fitness & Wellness (Games)<br />
The emphasis of this course is on physical fitness and<br />
wellness; one of the strategies to attain these ends will<br />
be through the use of various games such as basketball,<br />
volleyball, badminton, soccer, European handball. There<br />
will be a theory component; however, whenever possible<br />
the content will be dealt with through physical activity.<br />

Fitness & Wellness (Mind Body Activities)<br />
The emphasis of this course is on physical fitness and<br />
wellness through various activities such as yoga, Pilates,<br />
tai chi and trail hiking in order to enhance their selfawareness<br />
and develop a better understanding of how<br />
“mindful” exercise benefits both one’s physical and<br />
psychological well-being. In addition to these activities,<br />
students will explore and assess their current lifestyle<br />
choices and test various components of fitness in order<br />
to determine their current level of fitness.<br />

Fitness & Wellness (Circuit Training)<br />
This course will emphasize fitness and wellness; the<br />
workouts will involve full body exercises and athletic<br />
movements designed to work both the cardiovascular<br />
and muscular systems with minimal equipment. An<br />
emphasis will also be place on improving balance and<br />
agility. This course would interest those interested in an<br />
intense mutli-purpose workout to improve overall fitness<br />
or athletic performance. Modifications to the intensity<br />
of the program will be incorporated as needed.<br />
