Spanish I<br />

(Spanish for Modern Languages and Tourism<br />

Management students only)<br />

Designed for students who have no knowledge of<br />

Spanish, this course will present the basic structures of<br />

the Spanish language with emphasis on listening,<br />

reading, comprehension and oral expression. Students<br />

will be able to communicate in common situations of<br />

their everyday life.<br />

Spanish II<br />

(Spanish for Modern Languages and Tourism<br />

Management students only)<br />

This course is a continuation of Beginners I. It consists of<br />

completing the student of fundamental grammatical<br />

structure with more emphasis on comprehension, oral<br />

expression and reading skill. It will also introduce<br />

students to written Spanish.<br />

3 hours/week Units: 2.00<br />

Spanish III<br />

(Spanish for Modern Languages and Tourism<br />

Management students only)<br />

This course will provide an intensive review and more<br />

complete study of the Spanish grammatical structures<br />

with emphasis on syntax. Major emphasis will be placed<br />

on oral and written expression to enable students to<br />

acquire a certain command of the language through<br />

analysis and discussion of texts of socio-cultural nature.<br />

Spanish IV<br />

(Spanish for Modern Languages and Tourism<br />

Management students only)<br />

This course will complete the close study of Spanish<br />

grammar and syntax. Students will communicate orally<br />

and in writing with ease through intensive conversation<br />

and written assignments based on socio-cultural topics.<br />

3 hours/week Units: 2.00<br />

Comprehensive Assessment: 1 hour/week<br />

Introduction to Spanish Literature<br />

(Spanish for Modern Languages and Tourism<br />

Management students only)<br />

This course will offer students the opportunity to further<br />

their command of Spanish as they identify and discuss<br />

literary topics as they study texts from Spanish<br />

Literature.<br />

3 hours/week Units: 2.00<br />

Prerequisite: 607-401 or permission from department<br />

Introduction to Literature of Latin America<br />

(Spanish Modern Languages and Tourism Management<br />

students only)<br />

This course will lead students towards a certain mastery<br />

of the Spanish language through discussions and written<br />

assignments of literary topics of Latin American<br />

Literature.<br />

Spanish I<br />

(Complementary course - not open to Modern<br />

Languages students)<br />

The objective of this course is to enable students to<br />

communicate in Spanish through speech and in writing,<br />

in a limited way. The ability to communicate will include<br />

the correct use of the structures of the language, its<br />

grammar and vocabulary. The student will develop the<br />

skills of listening, comprehension, oral expression and<br />

reading in Spanish.<br />

Spanish II<br />

(Complementary course - not open to Modern<br />

Languages students)<br />

The objective of this course is to develop in the student the<br />

ability to communicate with greater ease in Spanish. Based<br />

on a more intensive study of fundamental grammar, and<br />

with more emphasis on comprehension, the student will<br />

further develop the skills of oral and written expression at a<br />

moderate level of difficulty.<br />

Spanish III<br />

(Complementary course - not open to Modern<br />

Languages students)<br />

This course is a continuation of Spanish II. It provides an<br />

intensive review of basic structures and an intensive<br />

study of Spanish grammar, with emphasis on syntax.<br />

Major emphasis will be placed on oral and written<br />

expression so that the student can progressively acquire<br />

a command of the language.<br />
