research help from the Library Staff is also available either<br />

in person or via our online chat service.<br />

The Library Webpage provides links to the many useful<br />

tools that you will need to conduct your research. These<br />

include access to the Library Catalogue (or HIP) as well as to<br />

the many online periodical and ebook databases. All<br />

databases are accessible from both on and off campus.<br />

Students will require their studentID and password for<br />

college computer use to access databases from home. As<br />

well, you will also find links to tips for research as well as<br />

copies of the various Style Guides required for writing up<br />

your assignment’s bibliographies.<br />

Located in the Library, the Media Center provides Graphic<br />

Communication and Creative Arts students with<br />

photographic and video equipment needed to do their<br />

assignments. Prior authorizations from their teachers are<br />

required before items can be picked up.<br />

A valid ID card is required to borrow material from the<br />

Library. The general loan period for books is two weeks<br />

with a renewal for an additional two weeks unless the book<br />

has been requested by another borrower. Teachers may<br />

place some material on Reserve to ensure that availability<br />

to all students. Reserve materials are available on a onehour,<br />

two-hour or two-day basis as requested by the<br />

teacher. Reserve items are available from the Circulation<br />

counter. To ensure items are returned on time, late fines<br />

are charged. Unreturned items are flagged as lost and<br />

associated lost charges are added to student’s accounts.<br />

Fines and non-returned items are considered as<br />

outstanding debt and may affect access to Omnivox, reregistration<br />

and transcript production.<br />

Monday to Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.<br />

Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.<br />

Media Center Hours (Fall <strong>2012</strong>/Winter 2013)<br />

Monday to Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.<br />

Friday 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.<br />

Please note that the Media Center is closed for breaks and<br />

lunch.<br />

Any changes in the hours will be posted on the Library’s<br />

website and at the door.
