Specialist in Transportation and Logistics – LCA.CB<br />

The goal of this program is to train students to fulfill a wide<br />

range of technical roles in the logistics and transport sector,<br />

specifically in transportation, warehousing, distribution,<br />

and other related areas of the supply chain and logistics<br />

industry. Program graduates will work in manufacturing<br />

companies, distribution centers, warehouses,<br />

transportation companies (road, rail, maritime, and air) as<br />

well as in customs brokerage firms and companies involved<br />

in logistics services. The job titles for which a graduate of<br />

the program would be qualified include: dispatcher,<br />

customs agent, logistics and transportation technician or<br />

coordinator, and warehouse supervisor.<br />

Wireless Networking – LEA. 1T<br />

The goal of this program is to train students to perform basic<br />

installation, administration and troubleshooting of Wireless<br />

Local Area Network (WLAN) equipment. Additionally, by<br />

providing students with the appropriate training, the Program<br />

also aims at preparing graduates to successfully complete the<br />

Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)<br />

certification. This program will provide additional, highly<br />

sought after skills that will enhance the chances of graduates<br />

for gaining advancement or avoiding layoffs if another<br />

downturn in the IT sector should occur.<br />

EDUCATIONAL MEDIA CENTRE, LEARNING CENTRE & LIBRARY<br />

Educational Media Centre<br />

Located on the second floor of E Block, the Educational<br />

Media Centre supports student learning through the use of<br />

information technologies (IT). The Centre provides direct<br />

support to students via Help desks (located in rooms A136<br />

and E239), workshops on selected computer software<br />

packages, and one-to-one technical assistance.<br />

The Centre maintains fully equipped state-of-the-art<br />

learning facilities and an IT infrastructure. The computer<br />

labs are available for homework activities (when classes are<br />

not being held). The Writing Lab on the second floor of the<br />

E Block, and the CTEC lab on the first floor of the F Block,<br />

are available to students throughout the entire school day.<br />

All labs have Internet access and selected software that<br />

supports the teaching curriculum. The labs are located in:<br />

Students are asked to respect the "Rules for Student Use of<br />

Computer Facilities" that are posted in each computer lab.<br />

Other educational technologies available at <strong>Champlain</strong><br />

include a television studio, video editing suites, sound<br />

studios and a digital imaging studio. These are used to fulfil<br />

course assignments that require the production of<br />

multimedia and hypermedia learning materials.<br />

Learning Centre<br />

Located on the second floor of the Library in B-301, the<br />

Learning Centre aims to enhance and support the<br />

educational programs of <strong>Champlain</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Saint</strong>-<strong>Lambert</strong><br />

by providing educational support services. Students may<br />

visit the Learning Centre to study with a tutor, to work on a<br />

computer, to work with an academic coach or to pick up a<br />

handout on study skills.<br />

Peer tutors are available in just about every subject. Our<br />

peer tutors have taken a course called “To Teach is to<br />

Learn” which focuses on tutoring skills and techniques.<br />

They are qualified to tutor. All requests for help are<br />

carefully evaluated. If a peer tutor is not available, students<br />

will be directed to alternative sources of help. Computers<br />

are accessible for student use during library hours. The<br />

Centre offers internet and Wifi access with computers on<br />

wich Microsoft Office is installed.<br />

Library<br />

George Wallace Library and Media Center occupies the<br />

second and third floors of B-Block. On the main floor,<br />

students will find plenty of space for group work as well as<br />

the service areas where they can request research<br />

assistance. Students will find a more quiet study area on<br />

the third floor where the main book collection is housed.<br />

As well as the availability of wireless connectivity<br />

throughout the Library, over 30 computers are provided to<br />

students to work on research and assignments. In addition,<br />

the Library instruction lab contains another 20 computers<br />

that may be used when no courses are being conducted.<br />

Training in the basics of research begins with a Research<br />

Orientation session for all students as part of their first<br />

Humanities course. In addition, a variety of sessions<br />

tailored to the needs of specific courses are also available.<br />

through looking up print materials in our catalogue as well
