Adult students come to <strong>Champlain</strong> <strong>Saint</strong>-<strong>Lambert</strong> for a<br />
variety of reasons. Many are seeking to upgrade their skills<br />
in order to meet the needs of new technology and for<br />
advancement in their present career. Others, especially<br />
women who have interrupted their careers to remain at<br />
home with their children, are preparing for re-entry into<br />
the job market. Still others are coming for personal<br />
development and for the pleasure of learning itself. To<br />
meet these needs, Continuing Education offers a variety of<br />
training programs including: Cisco Certified Network<br />
Associate (CCNA), Information Technology (IT) Support<br />
Specialist, Specialist in Transportation and Logistics, Early<br />
Childhood Education and Wireless Networking. Continuing<br />
Education also offers a number of non-credit courses such<br />
as English Second Language (ESL) and Spanish, as well as a<br />
variety of computer, fitness, and personal interest<br />
workshops.<br />

Recognition of Acquired Competencies<br />
The Recognition of Acquired Competencies (RAC) is a<br />
process that allows students to obtain official recognition<br />
for competencies acquired through training, life, or<br />
workplace experience. Students who qualify for RAC will<br />
utilize a collection of diverse and adapted tools to<br />
demonstrate that they possess the competencies<br />
associated with their targeted program.<br />
Continuing Education currently offers RAC for certain of its<br />
training programs.<br />

CONTINUING EDUCATION<br />
Training Programs<br />
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – LEA. 21<br />
The goal of this program is to train students to perform the<br />
basic installation, operation and troubleshooting of CISCO<br />
networking equipment. Additionally, by providing students<br />
with the appropriate training, the program also aims at<br />
preparing graduates to successfully complete the industryrecognized<br />
CISCO (CCNA) certification. Among the positions<br />
described by CISCO that a CCNA may fill are: Help Desk<br />
Specialist, Field Technician, Level 1 Systems Specialist and<br />
Level 1 Systems Integrator.<br />
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION A.E.C. – JEE.0K<br />
The goal of attaining as A.E.C. in the Early Childhood<br />
Education field is to enable a person to develop the<br />
required skills to work as an Early Childhood Educator with<br />
children of 0 to 12 years of age, as well as to foster the<br />
general development of children under their care.<br />
Sucessful completion of this competency-based Attestation,<br />
combined with 3 years full time work experience in a<br />
licensed child care setting, will give the student the<br />
minimum requirements for certification to work in the field,<br />
as per the regulations governing Child Care Centres in<br />
Quebec. Graduates may also work in other types of<br />
childcare such as school daycares, home daycare services,<br />
nursery schools and stop-over centres.<br />
This program is recognized by the Ministère de la Famille<br />
des Aines de la Condition féminine and L’Association<br />
québécoise des centres de la petite enfance.<br />
Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist – LEA.1Q<br />
The goal of this program is to prepare students for<br />
employment in positions such as Help Desk Agent or<br />
Technician. To increase the opportunities for employment, a<br />
major goal of the program will be to prepare students to<br />
complete widely accepted certifications including CompTIA’s<br />
A+, Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), Microsoft Certified<br />
Professional (MCP), and HDI’s Help Desk Analyst.
