Introduction to Forensic Science<br />
(Complementary course - not open to Science students)<br />
Crime Science Investigation (CSI) is a popular theme in<br />
television and film, but they usually do not explain how<br />
forensic scientists are able to collect information and<br />
help identify the perpetrator. This course introduces<br />
students to the science behind some of the basic<br />
techniques used in Forensics, such as Chemical Analysis,<br />
Blood Typing, DNA Fingerprinting, and Collision Analysis.<br />
This interdisciplinary course examines various aspects of<br />
forensic science from the perspective of Biology,<br />
Chemistry and Physics. It will be taught by a group of<br />
three teachers, one from each discipline, who will focus<br />
on how scientific methods can be applied to improve the<br />
reliability of evidence from a crime scene.<br />

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of<br />
Microsoft Office. Students will learn the correct way to<br />
create documents, workbooks, databases, and<br />
presentations for professional purposes. You will also<br />
acquire experience in integrating information among the<br />
applications. Methodology: lectures, multimedia<br />
demonstrations and hands-on applications.<br />

students)<br />
The objective of this course is to facilitate the production of<br />
a simple, but effective, individual Web page. In order to<br />
achieve this objective the student is expected to acquire<br />
practical familiarity with, and basic competence in the use<br />
of: an IBM compatible computer running under Windows;<br />
Web navigation and other Internet tools including search<br />
“engines”; application software for processing different<br />
media files; hypertext database design and HTML coding<br />
and editing; basic multi-media design techniques.<br />

The Technical Image<br />
(Complementary course - not open to Graphic<br />
Communications and Computer Science students)<br />
This course provides an introduction to technical drawing<br />
using the computer. Students will learn how to prepare and<br />
present technical drawings using a Computer Aided Drafting<br />
and Design (CAD) system. Upon completion of the course,<br />
the student will be able to sketch a complete layout for a<br />
dimensioned working drawing, and to use a CAD system to<br />
produce a properly scaled plot of a full working drawing.<br />

Using Spreadsheet Applications Software (Excel)<br />
(Complementary course - not open to Sport Marketing,<br />
Advertising Management, Graphic Communications and<br />
Computer Science students)<br />
This course introduces students to the creation,<br />
management, and analysis of a computerized spreadsheet.<br />
Students examine basic concepts and acquire experience<br />
creating and manipulating spreadsheets, charts and<br />
databases using Microsoft Excel. The use of formulas and<br />
functions, data tables and problems requiring “what-if”<br />
analysis are covered as well as methods of sorting, filtering,<br />
and making a Web query. Methodology: lectures, computer<br />
demonstrations and Web access, practical and theory tests.<br />

Management students)<br />
In this course, students will learn how to create personal<br />
and professional looking documents. You will acquire the<br />
necessary design techniques to publish your resume,<br />
newsletters, and advertising brochures.<br />

Introduction to Programming with C ++<br />
(Complementary course - not open to Computer Science<br />
students)<br />
Students will develop a working knowledge of the program<br />
development environment, and will be able to correctly<br />
utilize software techniques fundamental to the<br />
programming process. Through the development of<br />
algorithms, the student will be able to break down a<br />
problem into its component parts. C ++ is a structured<br />
programming language with which the student will develop<br />
logically sound and maintainable solutions. One additional<br />
hour of homework per week is required in order to<br />
complete the work assigned.<br />
