The NCR S1400 delivers a server product with an attractive
entry price point that meets pricing needs, while offering
technology that meets the performance and scalability of a
true server. The goal of this product is to address the
immediate capacity needs of small to medium business
customers by releasing a product that has been time-tested
and offers value-based alternatives for this price sensitive,
yet performance driven market space.
The NCR S1400 features dual Intel processors from
1.13GHz – 1.4GHz, option of SCSI or IDE internal storage,
an embedded IDE controller providing hard drive
flexibility, embedded Ultra-3 dual channel SCSI, low cost
add-in RAID solutions and up to 292GB hard drive storage
capacity. The NCR S1400 does not support hot-swap hard
drives or a Redundant Power Supply, but instead relies on a
highly serviceable chassis for availability/uptime.
The S1400 is the perfect primary computing and
networking server for the small to medium retail or
financial enterprise. It is also a cost-effective platform for
smaller scale requirements typically distributed throughout
larger retail and financial businesses.

The NCR S1400 has a standard, integrated
management offering that includes thermal, voltage
and fan monitoring. A watchdog timer is also
integrated on the system board that provides an
automatic reboot of the server if the operating system
“hangs” for a specified amount of time.

Performance and Scalability: The chipset was
designed to maximize the performance of Pentium III
processors by offering support for 133MHz FSB and
high throughput 64-bit PCI. By splitting the 64-bit and
32-bit buses high performance cards can be separated
from lower bandwidth peripherals, ensuring maximum
performance for each.
Choice of IDE or SCSI allows the customer to choose
the performance that meets their needs and
requirements.
