Soil reaction (pH) can be measured in several ways . In this report, where no method <strong>of</strong> determination i s<br />

Water holding (storage) capacity, in <strong>the</strong> context <strong>of</strong> this report, refers to <strong>the</strong> soils' ability to retain water agains t<br />

<strong>the</strong> pull <strong>of</strong> gravity <strong>and</strong> is inferred mainly from <strong>the</strong> particle size composition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> soil (texture), <strong>the</strong> soil particl e<br />

arrangement (structure), <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> soil depth . The depth generally used in this report is 1 m . The general value s<br />
